I went to the Southern Missouri Off Road Ranch (SMORR) Friday with group of built Jeeps and a different off road club. The leader is a fantastic off roader, great spotter, and really knows this park. We hit mostly 3 & 4 rated trails, 6 being the most difficult and I had a great time. I generally don't care for off road parks and would rather trail ride forest service roads in the local national forest. It was nice to follow some folks that know these trails at the park inside and out. Here's our leader Andrew going through the V-Notch successfully in his 392 Rubicon.    The 2nd 392 Rubicon wasn't so lucky.     The $75,000 Jeep landed perfectly on it's wheels and tires and didn't damage or scratch a single body panel. My buddy Andrew telling the driver, "you're ok no damage."  We used the winches on 2 other Jeep plus the winch on the sideways 392 to get him back on his tires.  Fun day otherwise. My JK with 37's, front & rear D44 w/ Eaton E-Lockers and 4.88 gears.   Our Tailgunner, his JL has the D44's & lockers out of Andrew's gray 392 Rubicon.   Some of the other obstacles.

Great pics. Cool you have dedicated places like that. Some guys won’t get it. Last time I took the wife and our Jeep to Moab was the last time she went off roading except for some modest Nat forest stuff nearby. She was sure we were going to be on our side or top every 10 minutes lol. It didn’t help that we were 3rd in line at a steep short climb that the guy in front was struggling with. Watched him try twice, backing down each time. His second attempt, he almost made it and should have easily made it. Slickrock, traction is not usually the issue. You just have to know your Jeep. He didn’t apparently. It was an old 5 speed wrangler like mine. He kills it somehow near the top, starts backing down in neutral. Too fast lol. Almost to the bottom, dude stands on the brake with predictable results. Jeep stood on its rear wheels, then almost in slow motion, right on the roof. Bam, side rear glass pops a cooler comes out spilling 20 cans of coors. They landed kinda gently right at the bottom. Belted in, not hurt, except feelings. A couple of us offered to tie on and get him wheels down and he declined. Thought we would tear up his Jeep even worse. Probably, but it’ll get torn up anyway. Someone gave them a ride to town for a tow truck, we went on our way. |
