Very first thing I ever 3D printed was one. I just took a 2D vector image. Then in openscad, imported the image, made a 3D object, assigning different heights to the different shapes. It was using all free software with next to zero experience and it came out just like I wanted it. |

Are you talking about converting a scanned blueprint sheet into a 3D model? That would be pretty awesome, but I doubt it is possible. The way Solidworks was taught at the school I went to, we were given a blueprint with all the information we needed, then we would create the 3D model manually using the dimensions given. Once we had the model done, we would convert the 3D model to a 2D blueprint and turn that in for grading. |
