| 11.46 today. Fun fact, it gets stupid humid after a tropical storm rolls through. The last few miles had me think I had run a lot further with the elevated heart rate and excessive sweating. |
In the Marines I got PT Thrashed on Christmas by our Drill Instructor because he blamed the death of Christ on recruits.

Not long after I started back up I got plantar fasciitis again in my right heel. I was going to throw in the towel but I started stretching and massaging it along with prednisone and it seems to be on the mend. This year has been a rough one lol |

10/1974.56 7.5 with 30lb kiddo in stroller. Wife picked up the kid towards end of run and pushed the stroller without the 30lb for another 2.5. We start off with sippy cups, a fan and toys in the front cabin of the stroller. Every few miles he decides to toss out an item. Fun stuff, seriously. |

At about mile 1.5 during the 10k last month, this woman whips by me pushing a stroller. A hill came up that slowed her down. I caught up and kept with her for the next 4 miles. Passed her at mile 6. She was a great pacer and she finished 3rd of all women. That race was 5k/10k/HM all starting at once with mostly out and back. It was like a slalom course weaving through NPCs still doing the 5k around 5. It was rather enjoyable. |

Somehow I got unsubscribed from my own thread. 11.5 / 2,185 4 x 10 minutes at marathon effort in there with 2 minute recoveries. After 2,440 days the distance covered during my running streak is now 24,860.10 miles, just slightly beyond the polar circumference of Earth. Today is gloriously overcast and the temp is about 20* cooler than it usually has been at this time of day. We might not even get to 100* today! |

There's only 42 mile difference between the equatorial and meridional circumferences of the earth. I'm sure you'll hit that larger number by about Tuesday. Yes, with the cooler morning temperature I was wondering if my HRM was broken. Seemed like it was stuck in zone 1 for a while. |

6.5/1997.07 Well, finally fought my mental demon of prolonging the inevitable. Vert over mileage. If I run up and down my front yard, I can get a ROG of 190-250’/mile, depending which route I take. Obviously, my pace takes a huge hit. Along with mileage totals. Tonight I got in a 6.5 miler never leaving my front yard, I was in z3-z4 for the entire run but ended up with 1255’ of gain at an 11:04/mile pace. I know, slow. Due to this thread, this is something I have been battling for a while. I want to keep my mileage high, but I need to be ok with sacrificing miles for the vert. Should have bit this bullet months ago. I set a goal of just beating last years miles of 2400 ish. I think I’ll def beat that. Still got a good shot at 3k. My main focus right now, 8 weeks out from Mines of Spain 100 is vert gain. Aug. 24 5,000–6,000 ft Aug. 31 6,000–7,000 ft Sept. 7 7,000–8,000 ft* Sept. 14 3,500–5,000 ft recovery Sept. 21 8,000–10,000 ft Sept. 28 9,000–11,000 ft peak Oct. 5 4,000–6,000 ft Race week 1,000–2,000 ft before race LFG! |

7.99 / 1086.01 I'll get rid of that pesky 0.01 tomorrow. Anyway 5x1000m at the track and the last 2 reps were a lot tougher than they ought to be. Aerobically fine, but my legs just would not move faster. Weather was ok - not great, but not oppressive so I can't blame that. |

Embrace the suck! Yeah that sounds brutal. With pretty much 2k down and 2/3 of the year over, you are right on track for 3k. Hat tip. Whatever helps knock out that MOS run. |

I've since resigned that many of my faster days are behind me and I just keep working on improving today's version of me. As long as I'm age-competitive and getting better, I'm happy. |

15.0 / 1101.0 Got started later than I wanted to. The first 2/3 of the run was cool and pleasant. Then the temperature started climbing. 75F or so at the start and about 90F at the finish. Regardless the cooler temps resulted in a lower average HR and faster pace for the same course I did a few weeks ago. |

For example, Thursday was on my schedule to run, but I was on the go from 0700 to 2100 with work, meeting contractors, personal obligations, etc. and I just could not fit it in. |

That’s part of the mental resilience that took every one of the 600 days to build. To hit my daily/weekly/monthly/yearly goals requires me to run before regular PT at 0630. Have to be up at 0449 each day to get my miles before going to PT and getting the rest of the miles. When I’m in the field I bring my PTs and go hit my runs before marinating in my own filth for the rest of the day. It ain’t easy and takes mental discipline to set the alarm early to make time for a run. One technique I use is to set out my running clothes and shoes every night. It’s a small thing that establishes a mental task for the next morning, but it works. For the physical side, you just get used to it. It’s surprising the level of endurance you can build and what your body can endure day after day after day. Plus you will build your lactate and aerobic thresholds to where running does not hurt so much and you don’t feel so drained after a longer run. Three years ago a 10 mile run wiped me out for the entire day. Now it’s every day and i don’t think twice about it. |

Have you thought about doing the calendar club? I might try it sometime next year. March 1- 1 mile March 2-2 miles …… …… March 15th-15 miles …… March 30th-30 miles March 31st-31 miles |

Still got a good shot at 3k. *snip* Just prioritize what makes the most sense for your training. Straight mileage is the "standard" for most simply because it's so easy to track. Training based on time is as simple and effective, but just not what most people focus on. Vert is great if that's what's going to help you the most (which will also feed your total time on feet, which is also valuable). "Slow" is relative. When I was hitting huge mileage for some ultras a couple years ago I was frequently doing recovery runs more than 3 minutes per mile slower than what I would have raced a marathon. That's just what I needed them to be, though. If I forced myself to run faster I likely would have really dug myself into a hole. And those slow runs equaled a long duration of time on feet, which was very helpful in building endurance/resilience for my goal and that wouldn't have been as pronounced had I run faster. Keep with what you're doing! Originally Posted By bip_master: 14.64/2608.87 Today was day 600 of my run streak. Pretty proud of making it this far. Only 2000 more days to catch up to Keen. Congratulations, that's pretty killer! Originally Posted By PaleRider227: Fantastic. Just extrapolating on what was already said, but I (purposefully) lose out on some sleep in the mornings. I get up and frequently start running workouts at about 5 because that's when I need to start to get in the runs I want and to get back in time to help get the kids ready and off to school. I wasn't originally a morning person (at all!) but for me it clicked fairly quickly. If I didn't run in the mornings I wouldn't have the time/energy to do it later. Get the kids ready/off to school. Go to work. Commute home. Household chores/cook supper. Spend time with the kids. Get them to bed. Spend time with the wife. By this time it might be 10 before I could even think about lacing up and that just didn't work for me. I do also have my running stuff set out early. Shoes, shorts, socks, gel(s) for workouts/long runs, and water for long runs as needed all prepped the night before so friction in getting ready to go is minimal. |

11.55 / 2,218 4 sets of 1k, 600m, 400m at between 3k-5k effort. 90 second walk between individual reps, 3 minute easy jog between the sets. 6 easy recovery miles planned for tomorrow, then two workouts Wednesday. So my run streak distance should go beyond the circumference of earth right about when I'm finishing the easy part of my warmup Wednesday morning! |

11.99 /1113.00 Finally got rid of that annoying 0.01. Took the day off and went to the Chief Ladiga trail which runs from downtown Anniston in Alabama all the way to the Georgia border (~40 miles). I picked up the trail further north of Anniston. Pretty flat, recently paved and quite a bid of shade. Less shade on the return trip, but felt great. Did 4 at easy pace, 4 at threshold, 4 easy cooldown. |

Excellent for workouts. Much more stable than Endorphin Elite 2's, but not nearly as fun. Heavier than my Metaspeed Edge Tokyo's and definitely not as fast, but they look like they are going to be much more durable. These are just respectable, comfy racers with an awesome rocker. I might get another pair for this price. |
