| Happy New Year everyone. |
|
Like myself and many others did in 2024, the time is now to begin this year's efforts into finding success. Step in, and get motivated by the success of others. Set your benchmarks and see how quickly you can achieve them. This year I am going to do another 50,000 pushups, along with climbing at least once every 2 weeks at an indoor facility. Jogging, running, strength training, and core workouts will also be completed. Log them here. If you think you can do 100 pushups a day, vote in the poll! If you vote, you must participate because your efforts will inspire others. Trust me on this. Let's get after it. |

Quoted: Personal goal for 2025 is lose 50 lbs. Will have to do it without push-ups. Dislocated a shoulder 5 years ago and can't do them anymore. ![]() Torn rotated cuff, but other wise the same. 40 lbs will get me where I used to be, 50 lbs will get me at about 5% body fat, which would be better. |

I'll throw down. As part of my broken/FAKE .Vet VA disability compensation program they asked if I would be a willing lab rat? I assume for me and others bennifitial future care. It didn't costs me anything other than what I had already given, so why not? Especially if it could provide an avenue to more personal palliative care. Included in the care package was 1 blood pressure monitoring device (Bluetooth/wifi), 1 Scale (Bluetooth/wifi 420# capable), and a cell phone enabled tablet that I agreed to use as regularly as I can during the monitoring period, which is open ended. It's all un boxed, I've tested a few things out individually, but I need a 6 digit code that has not been provided yet to start the process. Base line so far is 47 y.o. male Hypertension, under current care/treatment. 6'4 and according to my new friend, 230# on the dot. I was never this good in High-school. Apple not Pear shape, not that it matters much. |

Quoted: On it.. 330 AM and up for the day. 100+ before shower and coffee is standard fare. Gym later in the day, 6 days a week for decades now.. I’m old , but not old enough to let myself become a disgusting fat body ![]() Don't go getting all high and mighty there. Some brother's slip for one reason or another another, but if the will is there, there will always be a will to want to come back to the fold. I lost a 140# fat suit that I accumulated through no fault other than my own. Everyone's journey is their own. But if you can lend a hand, be it a kind thought, encouraging word, or that, guy on their doorsteps taking them to a PT event that Excell at. Do it! |

To be honest, I actually don’t enjoy it like I used to. I force the issue because I’ve seen what happens to my peers when you just let it go. I’m not even talking about looks necessarily, but real issues like cardiac problems, diabetes, etc. I still have a lot left that I need to get done before I shrug off this mortal coil. There’s no guarantee, but I figure grinding it out a couple hours a day is cheap insurance. Can’t hurt.. |

Quoted: Hit my goal of running 1000 miles last year. This year I'm shooting for 1500. I did a 50k and a 50 mile race last year. Planning on a 100 miler and a backyard ultra this year. That's awesome! I have trouble committing to consistent running for an entire year. I typically run a fare amount in the spring and fall, but.let it slip otherwise. I'm not sure what my main go.is for this year yet. We just got a rower, so it'll probably incorporate that. Good luck everybody! The challenge last year encouraged quite a few posters to hit some good numbers last year. It was a big motivating factor for me! |

Sept 2022 I was 255. I think I'm around 165 right now. 44 waist back to a 32. I'll be 40 next month. My goal right now is to build muscle. Without hurting myself. I worked 20 years in the grocery business, my knees and shoulders aren't the best. Any suggestions? Right now I'm alternating between a 20 minute body weight workout I found on youtube, a kettle bell upper body workout, and doing squats and lunges with anything heavy I can hold. I am pretty against joining a gym. I don't want to spend 4 hours a day working out either. Any suggestions? I don't want to look like Thor, but I don't want to look like a flabby middle aged guy either. |

63 yoa. In pretty good shape now, working out 5 to 6 days per week. I lift weights 2 days, take group training 3 days, which includes running and/or rowing. I do one long run per week (currently 10 miles), outdoor cycle once a week when the weather permits (otherwise inside cycle). I just added swimming. Currently at 185 and 23% bodyfat. Ran my first Spartan in October. 2025 goals; bodyfat to 17%. Half-marathon in Feb. Triathlon sprint in March, a Hyrox in the summer, and a Spartan Trifecta late summer to early fall. I'll hit a few 5ks throughout the year., too. 2025 is going to be a good fitness year! |

That's impressive mileage. I'm doing a half-marathon in Feb and 13 is as far as I care to go at one time. Currently training at 10 miles, average 10:30 pace. It's so hard. Lol. Looking forward to seeing your miles pile on. |

M4ger - thanks for doing this again. I am definitely in...just need to figure out what my realistic goals will be for 2025. I'm sure that will all evolve as the year goes on. For now I'll be running and working on getting back to the weights. Looking forward to continuing the journey. |

Cutting sugary drinks and fast food is my big one. Not that I go crazy on them now, but I did a rough calculation that as a family we are spending about $2200 a year on them combined. I’m starting the year at 210lbs and I’ll be 180ish at the end of it. My target is 6 miles walking a day which is actually fairly easy. Then throw in daily light weights on top of that to strengthen my joints. |
|
Riding around with my wife and decided to pick the following goals and adjust... Row: 1,000,000 meters Pushups: 25,000 That should be attainable. The rows average to just under 2.8k/day...so 10-12 minutes a day. The pushups should be easy...100/day for 5 days a week. I've got other workout stuff and running throughout the year, but I like the focus of the row and pushup. |

My lowest BF % was 14 and that was many many years ago. I'm probably around 22% at 195lbs. My goal for this year is to get to 190 and maintain it. |

Quoted: Not looking forward to the gym this month as it gets so crowded after the new year with everyone's New Years resolutions. At least after a month or so they all quit again and it gets less crowded. of this you are correct. I'm getting ready to pay $200 for my employer annual membership package. It has everything and more than I need. |

Quoted: Fuck it! I'm in. I'm going to have to start slow, but it's either do it or die. I tell people who want to start slow to do 5 pushups today. 5 tomorrow. Finish the week out that way. Next week do 7 everyday. Do that for a couple weeks. Then do 10 a day after that. By February, 15/day. 20/day in March. |

| The wife and I are in our mid 60s, we go to the gym and walk the treadmill for 60 minutes. I usually hit 3 miles in 60 minutes, about 3x/week. About twice a week we'll lift weights on the machines. I'm not trying to win any lifting competitions, just exercise my muscles so I can pull back my compound bow. |

A little off-topic perhaps, but does anyone know of a reliable BMI calculator? I used one online the other day that said I'm obese! FTR, I'm 5' 8.5" 155.5# this morning (down from 207# end of April). As for the challenge, I want to do 300 kettlebell swings/week, moving up to 450 by April. My joints (shoulders, especially) won't allow for the stuff I really want to do (trad workout), but I saw remarkable results when last I was disciplined with the kettlebells. Good luck everybody - and happy New Year! |

I'm obese according to all the ones I've looked at as well. |
