So I did a ride with a team here that is looking to maybe add me.  If it happens....I will have to turn up my game to 11.

They are covering kits and entry fees....that is over 2k a year.

All good...the last video the last 8 minutes or so is good.  I called a racer a dick for tossing his waterbottle out and almost creating a huge wreck.

How did you do?

Sorry I missed you!

I'm at 2800 for the year.

Yeah I made it to Tulsa late Friday and my Saturday race was wet so I was more careful in the corners so lost ground quickly.

Sunday I felt good but poor stage placing (mid pack) and first go up Cry Baby Hill my chain dropped from the big ring to small....and I did not want that.  So killed all my speed.

This is the 2nd time my front jumped to the small ring so I am going to convert my crit bike to single chainring in front since I never use the small ring.

What a difference a proper bike fit makes. I’m finally kind of comfortable and can get into a groove. These were Sunday and today. I set a new heart rate threshold of 156 today.

The bike is a Quintana Roo CD0.1 on a Wahoo Kickr.

Yeah definitely feeling it on my runs. I’m slower than normal but don’t care too much. It’s training after all. I don’t think I’ll be ready for any events until next year anyway.

I haven't been outside in awhile. I lost six months last year to a significant leg injury (broken heel/torn Achilles) so I'm only just now feeling like my legs are ok. Before the injury I was running seven minute miles for distance but I think that's lost for good. Now I'm deep in the nines.

I struggled so bad with this bike. Two cockpits, three cranks, and seven saddles later I'm finally able to groove. I added Solestar BLK insoles to my shoes and that seemed to help too. I'm very happy with those insoles. They say proper insoles can take pressure off the saddle. I don't know if that's true, but I ride better with them. My shoes are Lake CX219.

I went into this year with an eye on three 70.3 races, but my swim is just garbage. So I've been working on resistance training to build upper body strength. Just a work in progress like everybody else.

Today’s HR chart. Once I got warmed up I was getting after it. The dips below average were a couple breaks I took. It’s kind of cool how everything you do will show in the charts.

Cycling goals ?

At the start of the year it was just to lose some weight and "participate" again in whatever way possible.  I procured a e-bike (Specialized Turbo Levo) at the tail end of last year.    Weighed in at 325 in February , now at 260ish  (5'9" too - i need to be below 200 , but thats another set of goals )

I had to get some help from Ozempic on the weight loss part and still have a long ways to go with that,  -- but i finished the Hotter N Hell (50 mile option) 2 weeks ago and entered an E-MTB race yesterday (was a DNF, but for technical reasons - was just glad to be there anyway )   .  Got another e-bike race in October on the schedule , -- so i guess i am continuing to push my goals by the week

I have ridden with a local group enough that the road bike bug bit again and i am feeling good enough that i had a fresh road machine built up

I didnt have enough seat time on it to trust it at the HHH so i ingloriously used my e-bike there too.    I was self conscious, so started near the back of my group and soft pedalled for the first few miles --  lots of people with helmet mirrors, handlebar baskets, and even folks pulling their kids in trailers back there - it was a new experience and a fun crowd.
Just staying seated and pedalling for that long felt like an accomplishment

pics or it didnt happen     - 260 lbs and rolling an E-bike at a big event is a clown show for sure ,  and it was a last minute decision for me to even go, but i'm glad i did  (interestingly i was far from the only e-bike there )     -

But my new build combines a Dura Ace 7800 groupset and some older aero profile alloy wheels (should be bulletproof for a Clydesdale class hombre' , but they are heavy ) along with a secondhand Roubaix frameset.  Its the SL4 version, so perhaps 8 or 10 years old.

So the goals evolve.   I mentioned the late season E-bike races at the Tour De Dirt series -- but probably more importantly .   I want to get comfortable enough on the new road bike to move out of the "C group" on my local rides and into the B group by years end.

I still have time  and i feel like a participant in the local cycling community again .

I just recently started riding regularly and need to check my current mileage and set a reasonable goal for the calendar year.

I also want to branch out to riding in other locations and with some of the local groups.

I have a pretty nice bike, but the components are at the very entry level of good and they are old.  I want more gears and a lighter drive train and I want wider, tubeless rims.  Heck. I might even want a new frameset to hang all of those new components on.

This year has been less mileage and such as last year.  The heat in Texas was just too much and I had tons of work.  In addition I had a few injuries' that forced me off the bike for a while.

So now I am still riding and on keto diet to drop 30 lbs for next season of racing.
