This thread is being started as my tracker for the 2022 pushup challenge I'm beginning Monday.  65,000 is the goal.
I will be incorporating:
Chin ups and pull ups
Farmer's carry
Lunges
Bench
Dumbbell curls
incline bench
dumbbell incline bench
butterflies
dips
flutter kicks

Last year I started a push-up thread in Fitness and Self Defense and some number of people followed it and started posting their progress.  I'm glad they did.  They were getting after it and even pushed me to be better.

I'm grateful for those who said I inspired them.  I love making a positive impact.

In 2022, I plan on doing 65,000 push-ups.  I'm breaking them up into 10k rep blocks, with challenges at the end of each.

Starting January 3, 2022, I'm going to do 250 per day 4x a week.  Each week will be 1000 reps and on week 10, I will do either 500 2 days back to back or 1000 in the same day.  When I hit 60,000 on 04DEC2021, I did 1000 in 3h14m.  I hope to be able to get below 3 hours on the next one (March 6).

Block 2 will consist 1500 per week which is 300 per day, Monday through Friday.  This will start 14MAR2022.  6 weeks at 1500 per week to be completed 22APR2022.  I'll probably do another 1000 on either 30APR2022, or back to back 500s sometime the week of the 24th.

Block 3 will be 400 per day Monday through Friday, which is 2000 per week.  5 weeks beginning 02MAY2022 through 03JUN2022.  I'll shoot for another 1000 rep day the week of the 5th.

I'm almost halfway there on this schedule.

Block 4 increases to 500 per day for a total of 2500 per week.  This is how I plan on finishing up the rest of the training.  I was doing this back in August and reached 50k on 9/11 with 911 pushups in 2h46m.

If you want to get after it with me, step in.  You're going to push yourself, and you're going to see others push themselves.

You will find success.  So will others.  You do not have to start matching my numbers.  Do 5.  Do 10.  Push yourself.  You can do it.

As David Goggins would ask "whose gonna carry the boats" and Jocko Willink would tell you to just get after it and get it done.

It starts next week.

Let's do this.

How many strict pushups can you do unbroken now? 90* elbow or below and lock out at the top.

I'll find out Monday around 0700 and see what taking a month off from these has done.  I've been doing a lot of dips and bench and I plan on picking up a chain-belt so I can add 25 lbs or so to the dip routine.

The first few days might be a struggle or I might roll into it with some better than anticipated results.

We'll find out.

I'm in the middle of my pull-up sets. 30 done and I want 20 more today.

So I am just now noticing that this is a pinned thread.

I'm honored really.  Humbled too.

Just like my last thread, if you want to be a participant in getting some of your fitness goals met this year, please, by all means, join in and let us know how you're doing.

Tomorrow will be much the same as Monday and Tuesday, but I'm probably switching to curls and might even add some farmer's carry with kettlebells.

So today was a bit of a change for me.

Shoveling snow twice yesterday from 1600hrs forward, I considered not making into the gym this morning.

I knew I wanted to at least spend 20-30 minutes in the sauna and was able to do that thankfully.  Someone there had this clear lapse of faculties when they turned the thermostat all the way down and failed to return it to the setting most people enjoy.  I mean it was only 9° last night.

After getting a good sweat, I proceeded to receive a text from a friend of mine and I asked him if i should do 50 pull ups today and 50 tomorrow, and finally decided I was going to do 100 today.

First time ever doing that many in one day.

I guess tomorrow morning might be some kind of leg day as I tend to neglect those

Good to see you still going hard this year man. I need to set some solid goals for myself this year other than getting stronger and gaining some size. I'm considering picking up the 5x5 program or something similar to get in a specific routine. I've got limited options with a tiny home gym setup but I'll make it work.

Thank you Domnior.  I have no doubts you'll be successful in whatever you set your mind to.

All I did last year was a chair against the wall (to elevate my feet) for my pushups and curling dumbbells in the living room.  The occasional stationary lunge would find its way into the routine as well.

I hardly knew what to do with myself once I got a gym membership again.  I've got a plethora of options for working out and I'm still doing the most basic things I can think of.

I look forward to waking up at 0530 instead of dreading it like I used to.

pedestrian effort. A few sets of 10 in the mornings, noon, evening as I caught a break. Pullups noticeably suck, I'm lacking the motive to drive down to the park through the week. Have ordered a decent pull-up tower so there should be some improvement once that arrives.

Additional activity- 2 hours BJJ.

This is good exercise for me as I'm lacking equipment, space, and already have a gym membership for Jiu-Jitsu. Will track any progress or failure through the year in this thread.

I look forward to your updates!

I was doing about 20-30 pullups a few times per week as of a few weeks ago until one of the trainers at the gym said I should be doing 50.  The next day I started off with it, and it quickly became part of my new "standard."

I was texting a good friend of mine last Friday when he mentioned he used to 100 pullups per day and run about 6 miles, plus do 100 pushups and situps, and then he qualified it when he was in the military

I decided I'd try to see how a 100 pullup day (7JAN2022) would go and it eventually came to fruition.  It took me about 2 hours since we were closed at work from inclement weather.

I did do 300 pullups last week (50 per day M-Sat) and decided today was a good day to take a break

You're doing some good numbers on the pushups and keep up the great work

Today begins week 3. My first set of pushups was 85 done in 1:31 and 15 pullups.

I thought I might start out with 100 pushups but I started getting winded in the 70s. No biggie. I plan on getting 100 sometime soon.

My 2nd set of 15 pullups occurred at 0805. The 2nd set of pushups was at 0810 and completed 70 reps in 0:52.

Set 3 of pullups was done at 0815 for 10 reps.

3rd set of pushups was 50 reps in 0:35 at 0818.

4th set of pullups was done at 0820. 10 reps.

The last 50 reps of pushups was done at 0825. Time was 0:32.

Not doing a push up challenge, but I am in the gym 6 days a week these days. Still have 60lbs to lose.

I messed up on my counting this morning.  My fix is to do 145 more pushups today, for a total of 400.

I just rocked out 80 in the living room (1:28) and I can tell I'm going to need a small rest before hitting the 65 (0:46).

My error was when I did 85, 70, 50, and 50, for a total of 255.  I intended to only do 250 today, and my sensibilities are bothered by doing 5 more.  Thusly, to hit a good number, I had to do 145 more since my minimum set is 50.  There was no way to make it work otherwise.

It pays to pay attention.

ETA: To begin the evening edition, I did a 40 count stationary lunge exercise, left leg counts odds, right leg evens.

So I failed to update yesterday's workout here.

Since completing the week's pushups a day early, I decided to have a strength training day and did 60 rows and 50 butterflies. Weights ranged from 205 to 240 on the fly machine and 60 to 90 on the rowing machine.

The first 2 sets of both were 15 reps each.

Today will be leg day

This is no joke.  I've already drafted a design for one I'll probably build myself when my wife and I begin building or remodeling our next home.  It wouldn't be extravagant, just long enough for me to lie down in with a heater on a timer.

I spent 35 minutes in the sauna yesterday at the gym and it was fantastic.

I've failed to update the last couple days as well.  I incorporated farmers carry on Friday (1500' carrying 40lb KBs in each hand) and kettle bell swings and catches where I release the KB with one hand in mid-air and catch it with the other before it lands on the mat.

Made a small change tonight.  I considered adding 100 pushups in the evening to get me to 350, and after about 4 minutes, those were complete.

Tomorrow's workout(s) will be similar with 250 in the a.m. and 100 after work.  Wednesday will be 300 total for the day and that'll be 4000 for the year.

Next week I'll have a couple back to back 500/500 days to get me to 5k.

Finished out 500 pushups for the day when I got home this evening.  3 sets of 50, each being 0:37-0:38s.

Do it again tomorrow, and hopefully knock out 300-350 before work.

Doing 10 sets of 50 today for round 2 of the 500 reps goal.

First set of pushups was done at 0738 and took 36 seconds.

2nd set of 50 was done at 0743. 0:38.

Set 3 at 0748. 0:38.

I'm using 3 different platform heights today. One is basically waist height on my 5'11" frame. The middle one is knee high and the lowest is calf height.  I will likely do a complete set of 50 moving between each platform. Something like 15-15-20 starting with the highest one.

Set 4 is at 0754. This was my triple platform set. It took 0:52 to complete.

I'm aiming for 350 this morning. 150 more to get there.

Set 5 is at 0800. 0:38 on the lowest platform.

Set 6 is at 0805. Middle platform. 0:42.

Set 7 at 0811. 30 reps on the tallest platform and 20 on the middle. 1:05.

150 to go for 500 today and 5000 for the year.

Starting with kettlebell catch and swings today. First set 30 reps at 0750. I'm using a 30lb KB for this exercise. I'm also going to get farmers carry in.

Each farmers carry routine will be 240'-300' and using 40lb KBs in each hand.
