I’ve posted about this car a few times but things are ramping up and I thought I’d dedicate a thread to it. @Striker if we could keep this from archiving, I’d appreciate it. This stuff moves slow.. This whole thing starts in 2008. I was a parts manager at a GM dealership and I got transferred to a large Mopar store. One of my employees was an ex Marine who owned a 1970 RS Z28 that he bought used in 1971 when he got out of the Corps. I tried to buy it from him for years but he wouldn’t sell. He hung it up in 2018 or so and I lost track of him for a while. Then in 2022 he came up to the dealership I was working at and said he was ready to sell. I jumped on it! I immediately sent this thing off to Joey Gray in Winston Salem NC for the resto. This guy is one of the best 2nd Gen Camaro guys on the planet. I love IROCs. I’m gonna have a convertible IROC eventually. And thank you! Here’s the Legends judging manual. This video is focused on the shop doing the work. This blue Camaro is the same one that Mike Joy references at 4:15. And that 2 year time frame might apply to some cars, I dunno. That's fantastic. Nice find!!! I had a 71 RS a long, long time ago. Very basic 4 speed car. No power steering or brakes. I sold it to a guy who used it to cut a telephone pole in half on Hempstead Turnpike.  |

I think I posted this in your original thread. But it’s the one car I let get away that I really miss. ‘73 Z-28. I took the T top roof off of a ‘78-‘81 and welded it on this one. I often wonder if it’s still on the road or in someone’s garage. It wasn’t an original RS, pulled the nose off a junk yard car. This was back in ‘85-‘86.

I just spent 27K on the body/paint if that helps? lol That said, thank goodness it has so many original items that it needs to be complete. For example, Z28 and L78 radiators, RS original noses (the fiberglass repops suck), Z28 and L78 air cleaners and fan shrouds are really hard to find. We don’t have to find date coded alternator, distributor, pulleys, axle, sheet metal, etc either. |

Beautiful car OP. I've always been a second gen Camaro fan, had an 82? Z28, but the one that I wish I'd kept was a 70 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed. That thing was fun as hell and always put a smile on my face when I drove it. Lots of good times with it. Had a growing family and really needed a bigger house more than a hot rod at that time... |

Then it’ll get full PPF and we’ll drive it all over the place.

I vote original type small block warmed up a little. Not too crazy, just more guts than the 2 bbl. Better heads, cam and intake/carb if not a carb type FI upgrade. Keep the original motor wrapped in plastic somewhere. |
