My summer is almost at an end, so it's time to start planning this years student project.  For six years now ARFCOM has followed along and contributed to these permanent installation projects at the high school where I teach High School Art. ARFCOM has become more and more important to the success of these projects. The references alone for the Space Shuttle and Locomotive were unbelievable. I know this year will be no different.  Each year I think there is no way we can match last years success, but the ideas spawned and massaged here have proven me wrong. THANK YOU!!!  For those new to this, roughly 60-80 students from grades 9-12 will work for the entire school year to build and install from scratch a 1/3rd scale Marine One helicopter and hopefully the White House  . I'm hoping if time permits we can also incorperate maybe the Washington Monument in the display, along with murals of the area around the White House. All this will cost somewhere between $1200 -$1500 in materials. That is not a problem, as our Arfcom t-shirt fundraiser from last year was outstanding. I've already got some ideas for this years shirts.
Before the students get to class around the end of August, I need to have a "Vision" to get them to commit to the incredible journey they are about to begin. I will encourage them to brainstorm right along with Arfcom to push the vision to places we didn't think were possible. So, with all that said, I'm hoping Arfcom can get us started in the right direction with ideas. I struggled with this all summer as our theme has been transportation and exploration. We haven't done a helo yet, but I didn't know how we could get the rotor to turn around our cable that the helo will hang from. We won't!!! I'm thinking we will build three rotors, two of which will be semi transparent and display them as a static visual "blur". The tail rotor we will have move on a timer or motion sensor. From there, I don't know what else we should do.I hope you enjoy the adventure we are about to begin! 
First off... Marine One I really think I'd like to see us do a "Whitehawk" version, but I'll listen to suggestions. 
I realize the Sea King would be more traditional and more frequently used, but the Blackhawk is "cooler", more modern and small enough we can get a 1/3rd scale model in our display space. 
How I'm envisioning.....somewhat. The White House will be in the corner of the display area?  The display area: Our old Viking ship will be moved under the Dragon sculpture and murals will be added, so it isn't getting destroyed.

Is this 3D model in a usable format and of value to the students? If so, say the word and I'll cover the cost.

You’re correct, but I’ve seen the H-3s used overseas plenty. I think the 60s are usually used for VPOTUS level or lower. Quoted:

I think you have to plan for it to be suspended by a single pole that is located in the center of the rotor hub, so that the rotor can spin.
