OP: I once sold an AR10 barrel to a guy in OR. Shipped UPS, insured. Package disappeared. UPS shit show of an investigation. Returned the guy's money, etc.
Five months later, the barrel turns up on his doorstep. He actually repays me for the darned thing. Everyone is happy. Weird shit can happen in UPS world.

| A few years ago I had a SAMR upper with a Krieger barrel, KAC fsgb and vero beach FFRAS go on a month long trip to who knows where thanks to USPS. Tracking stopped, communication began and there were no answers. One day it just showed up on my doorstep. I never did get an explanation but I thought for sure it was gone. Hang in there. |

For those of you that know, how long do I need to wait to start the insurance claim? Also, I do not have an invoice or receipts for the parts that were lost other than the invoice for the machine work done. All of these parts were accumulated over the years here and there |

OP, I am sorry you are having to go through this. I spent almost 6 months arguing with USPS two hurricanes ago. They were adamant that my home was vacant. No matter how many times I explained to them that I lived in a two story duplex on the second floor and that the first floor was, yes, vacant. Response: our mail carrier checked the windows of the first floor and no one is living there. I got no mail for most of that 6 months, and they would not allow me to just pick it up at the post office. Eventually my mail just started arriving again.
Another one for you. Some 20 years ago now, my old boss (when I worked at a gun store) shipped off an expensive hunting rifle of some kind to a buyer in Alaska. It never arrived. Boss refunded buyer his money, and USPS eventually paid him the insurance. 10 years later they find the package in some random warehouse. They ship it back to my boss. He calls them and reminds them they already paid the insurance on it. They didn't care. Told him to keep it. They suck in every possible direction. I really do wish you good luck. |

since you had work completed at the machine shop - they may be able to provide a better itemized list of what they did work on. E.g. list out the name of the part and what work was performed.
That would prove what you had in the package - since you may no longer have the invoice for the parts. I would try to explain in the current market the price of said parts have actually grown in value and the older receipts would not list a fair market value. Worth a shot - since you can't locate the invoices. |

Sucks OP. I recently had a LaRue order vanish in Victoria, TX too...no updates on UPS tracking since late March, it still says "arrived in Victoria, TX", it just never left apparently. They can't find it, and I have to wait it out I guess. ETA never mind, I see your edit. Mesquite is about six hours away from me. |

The problem that I have found with usps, after talking to lots and lots of managers and postmasters is that they really and trully do not give one single fuck if you get your box or not. That has been my experience anyway. I hope you have better luck than me. |

You may already be outside the window. https://www.usps.com/help/claims.htm |
| Have you contacted the USPS Inspection Service? They do fraud, theft ,etc. and should be contacted. It is usually 30 days before a trace can be initiated,(Their words), and must come from the shipper. The claim must start from the shipper including the request for help from the USPS Inspection Service. |
