Every M1 trigger group I had was full auto. Needless to say I had to buy new trigger groups.  They were all Governement reject parts to boot.

Yes; that keeps getting overlooked here. I insured the package for $600.

The kit, purchased now, would be $535 + shipping.

Well, when UPS delivered my M1S order, it went to the wrong house.  Address lable was right, but went to neighbor.  Granted, it wasn't an issue, I intercepted the package since I saw the truck go there and I looked at the lable after the UPS guy left.  IT was my stuff.  I was expecting it, so I was watching out for the truck for a few days.....

Oh, the neighbor is my cousin , was at work.  Granted, he and his wife are "liberal"

I can't blame the UPS guy.... it wasn't our *normal* driver.  Looks like it was a fill in guy and the houses are not exactly marked well w/ numbers near the front door.  Just a plate near the drive....

You do know that you have to make your claim in writing  to their insurance co, don't you? UPS will give you $100, their ins co will pick up the excess value you insured.

UPS is the devil. Expect absolute nightmares attempting to claim on their 'insurance'--read the fine print and you'll be amazed to find they don't HAVE to pay anything. The 'insurance' simply means they'll review it and pay if they FEEL they were at fault.

God forbid you used the UPS Store-that'll be even worse...

I've been watching this thread like a lot of other people, waiting for the outcome.  What puzzles me the most is not what M1S or UPS has said or done, but that has taken all this time and still nothing has happened.

It is difficult to understand why ARowneragain has not received any phone calls or e-mails from M1S.
$535.00 may not be much to them, but it's a lot to me and probably to ARowneragain too.  That UPS is attempting to verify delivery says that they are trying to solve the problem.  I have not always had the best of luck with them and I like FedEx better, but I have to say that in their favor.

I have ordered a number of parts kits from M1S and had no problems with delivery or function of any of the parts.  All the rifles worked flawlessly.   I can also say the same thing about Texas Star, Bushmaster and J&T.  There are other vendors but I can't think of their names right now.

Until I see that M1S has responded directly to this problem with at least an e-mail or a phone call, I'll take my business elsewhere.

As for the ups/m1s fiasco....talked to UPS, they're CONVINCED that M1S recieved the package. So they're going tomorrow (w/ the signature evidence they have) to talk to M1S.

I still have heard NOTHING from M1S.

thanks for the update, I aml be watching this thread as I'm sure many others are.  I've never purchased from them, but I know that even if they step up to the plate at this point, they've lost collectively tens of thousands of dollars from potential customers.  A shame really.  I think for me it was more of the "lack of response" publicly after their attention was brought to this thread.

I have been watching this thread for a few days.  I had downloaded and printed the M1S PDF catalog so that I could look at it in my leasure.  I have my eye on the M4 post-ban (New York compatible) kit.  However, after pawing through the nine pages (so far) here I really have to think about putting down money there.

I was looking at JT Distributing but have not made any price comparisons.

This thread is worrisome. I have to send my A3 carbine upper back to Model1Sales for adjustment... it shoots several inches LEFT of POA at 25 yrds... have to turn windage knob almost all the way right to get it centered.  Instead of UPS, should I send it FedEx?  FedEx Ground?

UPS wants $23 to ship it
FedEx is $13 and FedEx Ground is $7
But fedex wont ship firearms... I guess declaring insurance for $450 worth of "gun parts" is OK with them?

Advice appreciated.  Thanks!!!

The upper isn't considered a firearm, which is why M1S can send kits straight to your door. You should just mark the package "machine parts" or "upper receiver".

I shipped an upper through FedEx, they x-rayed and thought it was a firearm, they "quarantined" it for 3 weeks. they gave no explanation and I still have no idea what thier reason was for keeping it that long. I guess they finally figured out it wasnt a firearm.... took 'em long enough!

Lets make sure this story gets around all the message boards if it hasnt already.  I cant believe after this long and this many pages there is no solution to the problem. If they were genuinely interested in dealing with the situation, they would have the common courtesy to keep in frequent touch with you and let  you know what is going on and that they have not blown off your business. Stupid companies. Nowadays they have the attitude that one customer is no big deal so fuck em.

I had bought a kit from M1 Sales a few months back online. I called a few days later to confirm the order had been recieved. The lady there said that she had no record of it and if I wanted I could replace the order so I did. I asked her "Will I be double charged for this ?" She said "NO" Two days later I got My kit. I did my build and five days later I came back to my office and there was another package from model one I knew what they did right away, I went online and saw the double charge, So I called them and they said why didnt you refuse it Well I didnt sign for it my boss did so How am I to do that. So I sent it back USPS insured, certified and confimed.  When I checked into it, The package had arrived but no one had picked it up yet. Well this was on my check card so I wanted it cleared up right away, I checked it the next day still no pick-up I called the next day and they said oh well we have to send someone down there to get it, we only pick up the mail once a week or so. They didnt credit it back for four days. They did fix it but they took thier time about it. I would have loved to keep the other rifle but had'nt  budgeted for it so I couldnt. So Maybe when i asked the first time to make sure they wouldnt mess it up I should have asked twice. Just my 2 Cents.

An upper is not a firearm.  The lower receiver is the firearm.  If they ask, tell them it's a "rifle barrel", or lie.  You have no legal obligation to tell them.   BTW, I've used FEDEX for dozens of firearm/upper/lower/etc shipments.

The email issue is VERY disturbing. A real Jekyll and Hyde situation down at M1S. I have only had rather pleasant customer service on the phone with them, and avoid using email when I can call. I think there must be a jackass shuffled into the deck down there, and that might explain a lot of this situation. I hope thats the situation and that this bad apple is found and beaten to a bloody pulp. If all the reports about M1 were bad it would be better than these mixed results we all seem to get.

Since you paid by CC contact them and take advantage of any sort of money back gaurantee they have. Order a kit from elsewhere (Ameetec.com) and keep this scar as a reminder. I hope all turns out well.

Maybe we can do a ARFCOM boycott of M1S until they help you out?

Not to appear dense, but did you actually determine that they did indeed receive your returned upper?
Was the guy who cut the check and signed for your upper a Model 1 employee AT Model 1's store? I didn't hear if UPS verified where they took your package. I just want to clarify this.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As I understand it, the UPS driver visited M1S, but couldn't resolve anything.

His supervisor is supposed to be visiting M1S to discuss the matter with them.

Apparently, the same "non-employee" that signed for my package, also signed for a COD package for which M1S paid by check.

So, if that is the case, it would appear that M1S is either:

1) lying, or

2) paying (with company checks) for C.O.D. shipments that are being recieved by this same "non-employee".

The guy who answers the phone for M1S (last time I called) is a first-class jerk, but the lady who answered on other occassions was super-nice.

Just how big of a company is M1S anyway

I'm pretty sure theres just those two maybe three people woeking there.

I'm having a similar situation with a manufacturer who for the moment shall remain nameless. They sent me a different upper receiver than the one I ordered. I returned it a month ago and I'm still waiting for my money. They haven't denied getting it, they're just not giving me my money.

I was forwarded this thread by someone else. I have reprinted my M1S experience here:

Let me begin by saying that I am NOT looking to start a long string of flames about M1S. However, I would be curious to hear others' experiences with this place.
I will keep my story short:
After finally deciding to build my first AR, I read through Shotgun News, and after going on the internet, I decided that M1S had the most selection, and I ordered a kit from them. I ordered over the phone, and the guy who took my order seemed very "flat", but he was quite helpful. I had a few questions, and he cleared up some things for me. One of my specific requests was for a flat front sight (the 1913 type), as well as a couple of other items. About a week later, my package arrives, and the first thing I noticed was that EVERYTHING was packed in thick packing paper. I only say this because I would have thrown stuff out that was small and packed in crumpled paper. Next was the upper. There was a brass-colored discoloration around the barrel just behind the flashhider, and they sent me an upper with the standard front sight. After calling M1S, I was told to send it back. When I asked for their UPS account number, I was told to pay my own shipping, and I would be reimbursed. I sent everything back, and I emailed M1S the other day to verify that my upper was received, and I have still not gotten a reply. My problem with this company is:
1. Lack of good customer support. Maybe $650 isn't a lot of money to them, but on my cop salary it A LOT TO ME. All I ask for my money is clear explanations and a reply to my queries.
2. Pay my own return shipping for their mistake? This is NOT how any mail-order business I have ever dealt with does business. What was I going to do with their account number? Ship boxes around the world? If there's a concern, put a return shipping label in the box with the shipment.
3. No invoice with my order. Let me see... I paid $650, I got a credit card receipt, and...oh, no invoice. No wonder the upper was done wrong - what was the builder using as a reference?
4. Quality control. That brass-colored ring looked terrible. For that money, I expect a good-looking piece of machinery.
I am still waiting for my corrected upper, and still waiting to hear back from M1S in any way possible.

My question to all of you is this: is my ongoing experience with M1S just a fluke? Are these people good business folks, or just looking for volume sales, as opposed to the return customer. I gotta say that I would look elsewhere in the future for my AR stuff.

I posted this message on Tuesday. Well, I called M1S on Wednesday, and they are out of the store until next week. No reply to my email, no package (I sent it back 10 days ago, so M1S has had it just  about a week), nothing. Rest assured, this is certainly my last purchase from these folks. I will be passing word to EVERY ONE OF MY "GUN BUFF" COWORKERS (there are at least 10 in my pct, others in the borough that I know as well).

I'm not an expert on this stuff, but I can tell you that credit card companies like Visa (and of course banks issue Visa cards) have merchant agreements.  If a merchant wishes to continue accepting Visa cards (or whatever), they have to meet the terms of their agreement with the credit card company.  If you had met the 30-day window with the credit card company, they would have done a "charge-back" to the merchant and you'd have a debit (or is it credit) issued to your account.  Every charge-back to the merchant is a mark against the merchant; the more they get, the more restrictive the merchant-agreement becomes, and they MIGHT be dropped from Visa altogether.

Without getting into specifics, I can tell you my employer is being forced to change aspects of the services we provide customers simply because of "rules" Visa has.   Here's an analogy that applies to what we are facing:  Imagine I am a barber, Visa has told me that I must switch to single-use combs and throw them away after each customer.  I can no longer just drop them into the jar of blue "water".  We value our ability to accept Visa, so guess what.... out with the jar; in with the disposable combs.

P.S.  I'm not meaning to rag on visa in particular... all CC companies have these agreements... its just a fact.  I simply chose 'visa' as an example for the discussion.
