[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Twilight Zone Hunting Experience (Page 2 of 2)

Was late season Hunting on Fri Afternoon ( Muzzle Loader). Hit the woods at 1230pm. Light Snow on the ground so I decided to sit at my usual spot for 45 mins, then still hunt. Hill after hill, valley after valley, nothing. The day was growing old and the sun was setting, so I logically started to head back towards my truck. I was deep, but fairly comfortable where I was. As I start to head out, I see a guy in the distance, maybe 30-40 yards away on middle of hill. It's a game warden and I know what to expect... License etc... I start walking towards him and as I look down to see my footing and look back up, he's not there anymore. Oh well, I head back to my truck as it's getting late and dark... Get to the parking lot , I see the game warden sitting in his truck , next to my truck. I prepare and take out my license, rifle already has primer out... He gets out chit chats ask for license etc, did you see anything... yada yada yay. As we are talking I asked him if he was looking for me earlier or just happened to stumble onto me in the woods? He said, I wasn't in the woods, I been here parked for the last 1/2 hr. Then is dawned on me it wasn't him. I said perhaps a co worker? He said nope, only one on shift in this area. I explained that there was Definitely another officer in the woods. Warden asked me what he looked like etc... I describe him... In hindsight, the warden paid particular attention to my description, odd like. Well, he looks over my info and jots my information on a pad. He then asked me for my phone number (odd in hindsight) and goes his way. I get into my truck, start it up, grab a smoke and turn on the radio look at the clock and it's 2:45 pm!!!!!! To myself I was like WTF, it was getting dark out and was thinking to myself why the fuck did I leave the woods? Oh well, Hunted entire day before, i'm beat I suppose. I drove home end of story... Today, at 130pm my cell rings, it's warden so and so, he wants to meet me?!!!!!? I ask why, he explains nothing official, just wants to run something by me... We agree to meet at a dunkin donuts, I live in his work zone and he also lives a town over from me... Well we meet, I pull in and he is already there. Gets out of truck and walks in to get a coffee with me carrying a black binder thing. We sit down, he opens up his binder and he starts pulling pictures out... asks me if any of the people resemble the warden I seen in the woods? My mind is racing... i'm thinking oh shit is there a serial killer imposter out there, wtf is going on... He pulls out about 6-7 photos and BAM, there is the guy I seen in the woods. I point it out... He looks straight at me and goes... Are you sure... I say yes positive... Naturally, I start asking wtf, should I be concerned etc... What happened
He looks up at me and said... that is Warden so and so, he's no longer with us... He passed away last year ![]() ...and he voted Democrat in the recent elections. |

OP....
In would hunt that area every day left in the season and here is why. Those wardens know there is a monster buck in there and they want to keep everyone away. So everytime they see someone hunting they pull this stunt. So they can hunt It themselves.... You are missing a buck of a lifetime.....
Edit: I used to have a stand that overlooked some marker stones. I told the guys in the hunting club they were grave markers to keep them out of my stand because there was a huge deer I was going after. Worked for a few years until someone talked to property owner and found out they were just old right of way markers piled up on the edge of a field. I laughed every year at deer camp .... My buddies didn't find it all that funny.... |

I'm not into the whole ghost thing, but bartended at a bar back home where there is a huge transient population and tons of weekender type traffic, especially summers and ski season.
I'll keep this short. The place was divided into two sections, the bar and the restaurant that was closed by 7 every night. many people would ask if the dining room was open and would be looking at the full length glass doors that separated the two, even though the lights on the other side were always off. When I would ask why, I would get a sinking feeling in my stomach and the hairs would stand up. They would always say it was because they saw a guy standing there. The freaky thing was this. When asked to describe the man, they would always come up with the same description right down to hair color, glasses, build and red flannel shirt. Now, for many of the people that lived there, I knew who they knew and knew exactly how long they had lived there. The weekenders, "mupfers" and tourists would be passing through or renting homes for the weekend nearby would not know this guy. They were describing the old owner, who had hung himself 8 years before. I knew the guy, I also know the people I spoke with didn't. This was a common occurrence and it would freak me out. *ETA, there's another Arfcommer here who also bartended there with me who now lives in AK who can verify this story. |

It got so bad, me, Sledfool and his brother would not let each other alone in the place. If one of us were working, one of the others was always there (drinking for free )
To this day, I don't know what to make out of that situation. |

A local diner we have breakfast at a few days a month claims to have strange things happening. Phantom perfume smells, waitress coming around a corner and seeing a man sitting at a table in an empty restaurant, glasses moving on the counter, sounds of doors opening and closing and nobody there.
I didn't notice anything weird, maybe I should take my dog for a visit and see if she will go in the building? |

The onwers of my grandparents' former home have described some creepy happenings. I'm not sure on details, but it wouldn't surprise me if I weren't such a paranormal skeptic. My grandfather had been known to promise hauntings to people, and I was there when my grandmother died in the living room.
ETA: my story isn't as interesting since I don't have a troll account to burn.

To this day, I don't know what to make out of that situation. Old man Johnson, scheming to get the insurance money. He would have gotten away with it if not for you meddling kids! ETA: protip: if you reply to this, be sure to use your primary account. Unless Lorax is your troll account. Then use the Lorax account. |
