I think I figured out there strategy. The dems came in very prepared and coordinated and wanted the republicans to come across as complete bafoons.
They resisted the urge, and might beat them at their own game! If they came out guns blazing the media would destroy them and the pressure would make the vasilating member like Collins and Flake fold. Instead they have this prosecutor using her skills to gather information, and do her best to sound pleasent and non threatening. She will take all this information from the testimony, she will work with her legal team to put together a detailed report against the evidence we have, Fords testimony, her statement and what’s been reported by the press. My hope is they then present this evidence in a report to the republicans and clearly lay out that her accusations are baseless and without merit and there is not reasonable doubt. It might be a good strategy, because they are actually beating the dems at their own game. No gotcha moments, no sound bites of Cruz laying into her, no comments taken out of context and used in political ads against us in the midterms. |
