I went today, and I was impressed. There are many categories of stuff, but I only took a few pics. I had to go through Detroit to get there, so I made sure to have a reload. While the museum itself is awesome( and good for at least a day of exploring, absolutely worth a trip)you’ll be missing out on part of it being that Greenwich Village is closed in the winter. It’s a large part of the museum and is really worthwhile if you have an interest in American technical and cultural history that you can walk through and around. |

Was always a staple for visiting friends and family when we lived there. Just an amazing collection of Americana, including the limo Kennedy got shot in, and then Greenfield Village is awesome too. They packed up Edison's laboratory, transported it to SE Michigan, and installed it at Greenfield. Including all the chemicals in the glass bottles, which they had to test each one to make sure it was safe. Make a glass rose at the glass blowing shop, and they'll ship it to you when it's done annealing. Make a tiny candlestick on a lathe in the turn of the century machine shop. |

VW is said to have paid $20M for one of them. As you know now, it is impossible to really capture that steam engine's scale in a single pic. It is so impressive in person! Did you see the power station for Ford's Highland plant? Could you imagine standing at the controls of that thing with 42" bore pistons pumping on either side of you? That is one of the museums that every American should see, especially the engineers and manufacturing people. |

A couple of years ago I was driving an 18 wheeler down a ramp into an excavated cellar (20+ feet below ground level) right across the street from there. Now I want to go back and visit. At the time, Ford was building an R&D facility for the batteries for EV's. I also want to find that guy that assured me that by 2025 internal combustion engines in vehicles will not be available. |

Its been decades since I went. Probably should make the hour trip up. There used to be a Ford headquarters building across the street that had a museum of sorts in it. My old boss quit our place to be the director of exhibits. It had an immersion movie theater that put you in the POV of being a car being built with seats that moved and bounced. It even squirted a paint smell when the car was painted. Inside was a giant multi screen TV installation with a huge tiled video of Ford history and innovation. This was 1996 or so and it was cutting edge display stuff pre-LED My boss hated the job. Anything he wanted to do required union guys to help. He wanted a stansion moved for queueing he had to call the guys in to do it. Place probably cost a billion dollars. Closed in 3 years and my old boss was out of a job. |

This was my first time, and I didn't want to book everything and not be able to get to it, so we just did the museum part. Maybe in the summer we'll go and check out the other stuff.

I have been working across the street for almost 30 years and sometimes I take my lunch break to walk over and stroll the museum or the village. Its an amazing place, not to be missed. I also go to the heavy middle eastern area of Dearborn for food or shopping and never had a problem in 30 years. |

I'm not ashamed. I own two houses and split time between them. TX and MS. I've been to Detroit once, plane broke down and airline subbed another to move one around. At 7am the airport was extremely empty and wasn't bad at all compared to a lot of places I've flown. |

| I couldn't tell you how many visits we've made to the Henry Ford & Greenfield Village. When my boys were young, we had a membership for 5+ years and we only live 40 minutes away. If you have young kids that like Thomas the Tank engine, he visits every year. IIRC the July 4th weekend is the CW reenactors. |
