Whom else can wear old analog? We have outfitted most of the Afghan forces in Woodland, so it only makes since for our SOFs embedded with Afghan SF to wear the same. MARSOC was wearing mainly MARPAT when working with the Afghans until the Commandant threw a hissy about his troops wearing his uniforms while in relaxed grooming standards in theater for lack of better terms. We started wearing Woodland instead to "appease" him. |

MARSOC and other units who are working closely with ANA will wear the woodland to avoid standing out at distance among them so as to avoid being specifically targeted by insurgents. |

| There were stories about GW1 that the Saudi's would cross the street when they saw Marines wearing green gear because of the BMF effect. It takes either a BMF or a DMF to wear green in the desert. Truth was the Marine Corps couldn't afford to change the color of their uniforms or their equipment at the onset of GW1. Plus stories were told of having to kill a brother to be a Marine and all the normal skuttlebutt we think foreigners think about us. |
