Quoted: The Tom Bihn and Pacsafe are tier one options. Probably too small for your iPad, but the Victos Upscale 2 (now 3) may be too small: https://hosting.photobucket.com/3a5ba44e-72a5-4ded-b00a-39a4440c67c0/91c89865-a712-42c7-8e18-468119bb2f46.jpg?width=960&height=720&fit=bounds" target="_blank">https://hosting.photobucket.com/3a5ba44e-72a5-4ded-b00a-39a4440c67c0/91c89865-a712-42c7-8e18-468119bb2f46.jpg?width=960&height=720&fit=bounds https://hosting.photobucket.com/3a5ba44e-72a5-4ded-b00a-39a4440c67c0/1c4e4312-ae0c-47f2-becc-7de98284b160.jpg?width=960&height=720&fit=bounds" target="_blank">https://hosting.photobucket.com/3a5ba44e-72a5-4ded-b00a-39a4440c67c0/1c4e4312-ae0c-47f2-becc-7de98284b160.jpg?width=960&height=720&fit=bounds https://hosting.photobucket.com/3a5ba44e-72a5-4ded-b00a-39a4440c67c0/738c5d35-91a9-4e65-9274-e1c4f14109d8.jpg?width=960&height=720&fit=bounds" target="_blank">https://hosting.photobucket.com/3a5ba44e-72a5-4ded-b00a-39a4440c67c0/738c5d35-91a9-4e65-9274-e1c4f14109d8.jpg?width=960&height=720&fit=bounds Just saw they now have an XL model that might work: Upscale XL I do have an Eddy Bauer sling bag that has an external water bottle pocket, but many are angled too much for an iPad. I just saw Maxpedition discontinued their Entity Tech Sling bag (smallest, 7L size) is absolutely perfect for carrying my Surface Pro, but if interested, you might find one on Ebay (happy I have two!): https://www.amazon.com/Maxpedition-Entity-Tech-Sling-Small/dp/B07T9M84DP As to avoiding the secondary carry-on bag, I normally travel with a roller, backpack and small sling bag. The backpacks with a beaver tail or with enough room to put it inside will get you past the gate check-in. The smaller Viktos bag has been up under my arm and under my backpack and I never caught any flak. It's just nice have the convenience of that small sling bag for a few handy items that make it a PITA to carry in your pockets and as much as I love cargo pockets you look like a stupid private with a bulging BDU pocket holding a fucking canteen on one side and poncho in the other pocket ![]() ROCK6 I’ve got that same Viktos and it does fit my iPad but no water bottle pouch. |

Quoted: A sling bag, or your last sling bag? Tom Bihn Copilot / thread. Tom Bihn Copilot compartmentalized perfect for my needs, but I absolutely wanted a way to carry a water bottle. Not a 30 ounce titanium bottle, just a simple COSTCO, just a plain, clear plastic bottle. The Copilot "swallows" a 20 ounce bottle in it's center pocket. it doesn't protrude from the bag, or hang on the outside. There's a small hole at the bottom, to drain condensation, etc. You won't like the price, $165ish, but you'll love the quality and funcitonality. I ended up with 3 Copilots and 2 Pilots. One Copilot is my eyes/ears range bag Tom Bihn Copilot |

Quoted: Arfcom has grown men who are able enough to board airplanes and carry large bags but aren't able enough to keep a cell phone, wallet, and emergency stash of medicine on their person. Quoted: Quoted: Your plan isn't "sound," it's 'tarded. Leave your shit behind, ffs, this isn't a difficult thing to understand. Then there's the ARFCOM men who aren't dressed for combat when going on vacation. Wearing a belt on a plane is a fool's game, and loading one's pockets with a syringe doesn't seem all that bright either. Wear a belt enough times on a plane and you're likely learn all about the femoral nerve, especially if you've had any surgery or scar tissue from hernias. Even my healthy neurologist wears sweatpants during air travel. I'm good to go |

I'm good to go Genuine question: if your meds are so important to you, why would you put them in a pack that a flight attendant may well tell you to dump in the event of a emergency evac ? Then you'll have none with you at all. Just testing your logic: Your current plan has you 90% likely to be stood in the airport without meds, wallet, passport, phone or glasses. Whereas simply putting these items into closable pockets will put you at 100% that you will have those items. Your option has 90% chance of failure, carrying in zipped pockets has a 100% chance of success. Doesn't seem like you thought this one through mate. Nobody is suggesting you carry an assembled uncapped syringe in your pocket. |

What I used the last few times I flew- Helikon Tex haversack- lightweight, really compacts down, two inside water bottle pockets. Great bag, I bought it to be a day bag but stopped doing so shortly after buying it for unrelated reasons. I used to slide a Maxpedition dump pouch on the strap for a 32oz Nalgene. My last trip I had a checked rifle case, an LBT 35 liter backpack as my carry-on and a 5.11 Rapid Waist Pack (big fanny pack, may be discontinued so I'm glad I bought two with a discount code) as my personal item. My 10" Samsung tablet just barely fits inside but I still had room for a battery pack and some little stuff. I wanted to have a canteen so I put a Spiritus JSTA pouch on it (canteen kinda fits in the pocket), I'm sure I looked like a total fucking muppethead. The strap is 2" wide, no need for a pad even when it's over loaded.Attached File Attached File Bottom pic is my summer bicycling setup. |

For a different look but also good bags (not as good imo though) check out Nutsack and the also Waterfield designs. They make some nice waxed canvas bags if you prefer that style. Tom Bihn can’t be beat for design and pocket layout though. I should add, slug packs seem good on paper, but I’ve always ended up hating them. A smaller sized over the shoulder/cross body allows easier/faster access and is simply easier on and off for me. |

Dang. Wish I knew about that one. I had been thinking I wanted a sling bag for an imitation crab meat convention coming up, where you go from room to room at the convention hotel looking at all the meat for sale. I didn't want to have to walk alllll the way back to the room with whatever I may purchase and/or bring my meat with me to compare to a nice(r) meat that might be presented for sale. I have a 5.11 Moab 10 for AP5-P transport, and had been looking at maybe a Moab 8, but was trying not to spend $100 for this thing. Ran across a Glock branded (Glock 235???) backpack at Scheels on clearance for $49, so I went ahead and grabbed it. That Ozark Trail sling bag might have been perfect. Still might go ahead and check it out. |

My wife has a Maxpedition Fatboy Versipack and I use the Jumbo size. We like. https://www.maxpedition.com/collections/versipack |

Is your bag a medication or an prescription device provided by your optometrist? Kharn Exactly! One doesn't get to evacuate with a sea duffel because it contains medication, one gets to carry out the medication itself. |

You'll impede others as you fiddle fuck around getting it on, then you'll be told to drop it, and you'll further impede people as you argue about it. Then you'll realize you're not gonna take it, panic that you don't have your passport/wallet/phone/meds with you and further impede people as you fuck about trying to get them out the bag. By this time the plane is dark, filled with smoke and people are screaming at you. Next you'll be on the floor with people climbing over you, you'll struggle to remove it, and if you do, you'll make it another trip hazard for everyone else behind you. Best case - you'll be stood in the airport, with nothing at all, with boot prints on your face, arguing evacuation semantics with the gate agent. Or you could just put your stuff in closable pockets and be autonomous and self sufficient like a big boy. |

I fly every week. Goruck GR1 plus this sling bag Alpaca I let it hang like a courier/shoulder bag. |

Folks are seen walking off the plane with backpacks, so it doesn't look like anyone is forcing passengers to do anything. AND, I won't be the one arguing, I'll be the one carrying a fellow passenger's toddler or elderly spouse. On a recent flight, the overhead popped open on takeoff and the crew was phucking clueless. Even after I slammed it shut 3 times, no crew member ever showed up. And EVERYONE knows what that sound is. I was torqued backwards, but it was above the row I was in and the other passengers couldn't grasp that those bags are about to start flying about, so they did nothing. I'll be fine. |

Quoted: "Leave everything behind: Your belongings can wait. Grab only essential items like medication or glasses if absolutely necessary." Perhaps you're all just not envisioning what my bag looks like. Regardless, it has my meds and RX optics, so it's not staying on the plane. If I wanted to leave my well being up to others, I'd take a cruise, which aint happening. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Yeah, it would be a personal item, which I like for the reason I stated above. Staff won't have an issue if I take it with me in an emergency. You could stuff it into a backpack if you want, but I'm done with backpacks. I've traveled as much as 30 times in a year and am down to what I like. Maybe because I used a backpack for work travel and I'm done with both! We did this a few weeks back; if you want to take stuff with you in an emergency, wear cargo pants with closable pockets. Nobody wants you fucking around with a bag when the planes on fire and everyone is going down a slide It's not under a seat, it's at my feet. Either I sling it on, or folks next to me trip on it on the way. My plan is sound Keep digging. Note that's exactly why it's REQUIRED to be under the seat in front of you and exactly why bulkhead row pax get nothing with them during takeoff/landing. Regardless, it has my meds and RX optics, so it's not staying on the plane. If I wanted to leave my well being up to others, I'd take a cruise, which aint happening. LOL you're not taking anything with you if you have to evacuate a plane. You're leaving with your body and the clothes on your back and if you don't you're going to get curb stomped while people climb over you. You have no concept of how little time you have when you need to get the fuck off a plane. your little fucking sling bag slinging game just cost the kid waiting on you their life. Can you live with that? |
