I may have a place for Max to bunk in Paducah, KY. If so, we could roll to Paducah on Sunday, then Betio and Motoguy could meet in the middle on Monday. If not, we have an offer for Max to stay in McMinnville overnight on Sunday, then it's my understanding that @F15Mech could roll north with him on Monday. |

TENTATIVE ITINERARY So at this point, we have the following: EARLY SUNDAY MORNING: LEG 1: Spuddicus picks up from Jordan, brings to Chattanooga LEG 2: Deltaelite777 picks up from Spuddicus, drives Chattanooga to Manchester to meet Kcobean LEG 3: POSSIBLE OVERNIGHT with Kcobean--I am finding out whether a friend (Chris) can hold Max in Paducah. If he can, Kcobean drives to Nashville SUNDAY to meet F15Mech. If Paducah friend cannot hold Max, Kcobean will hold Max overnight, then meet F15Mech on Monday morning EARLY in Nashville. SUNDAY OR MONDAY--pending overnight accommodations LEG 4: F15MEch brings Max to Paducah, KY. MONDAY: LEG 5: Betio meets F15 Mech (or my friend Chris) on Monday and drives to a meet point between Sikeston and Lake of Ozarks, handing off to new dad, Motoguy. @Spuddicus @Deltaelite777 @F15mech @Betio @Motoguy @Kcobean @ImperfectlyPerfect3 @44-40Pro Y'all take a look. Do you see any issues with timing for anyone? We should be able to finalize today. Have to talk to my friend Chris in Paducah. @Betio If Max stays in Paducah with Chris, you would have to meet him like o-dawn-thirty before he leaves for work. He's a physician's assistant and they get going stupid early in the mornings. If that timing won't work, we will go with the overnight in Tennessee. |

@Deltaelite777 @kcobean I just picked Manchester because it's kind of half way, a good road from McMinnville and If I remember right, there's a Starbucks there. Y'all can set your meet points anywhere you want that works best for you. Everyone should try for meet points that have some grass around them so Max can potty on stops. When I run, we usually try for Cracker Barrels or a TSC store, etc. You folks in the relay will decide what's best for you for meet points/stops, etc. Y'all obviously know your area far better than I or anyone else. |

On the way out you won't be fighting it. When I worked down there, if I made it in before 6, I was golden. After that, I might as well wait til after 9. |

Okay folks, this op is a go. I will start the group text as soon as I can get my act together. Probably this evening. SUNDAY @Spuddicus picks up Max from Jordan, drives from Georgia to Chattanooga--meets Deltaelite777 @Deltaelite777 drives Max from Chattanooga to Manchester area to meet kcobean (I bet the drive over MontEagle is gorgeous right now) @Kcobean is overnight accommodation for Max. He has a crate if needed, and a nice warm shop for Max to hang out in. MONDAY @F15Mech meets Kcobean to get Max in Nashville area, and heads north to Paducah, KY. @Betio meets F15Mech in the Paducah area, and takes Max to meet @Motoguy @ImperfectlyPerfect3 To all: (sorry it's a book) STUFF TO KNOW: Mark always gave these rules for transports, so Jordan and I are following his example and doing what he did. GOAL is to keep drivers safe, and get Max safe and sound to his new best life. 1-DOG is ALWAYS Tethered in the car. Any dog can bolt. MAX BOLTS AS SOON AS THE CAR DOOR IS OPEN. He will also go out the window if he sees something he wants. ALWAYS Tethered. So.... 2-DOG ALWAYS has on two leashes. Max will travel with a seat belt clip thingy, a short leash, and a regular leash, bowls for water and food, food, and a blanket for the car seats (just in case) Use any of it you need to, how you need to. Max may decide he wants to drive. Tether will help  3-LEASH CLIPS can FAIL. Stuff isn't made like it used to be. Two leashes lets you have him tethered while you are getting a good hold on the other leash for potty breaks. 4-Put the loop of one leash around your WRIST ALWAYS, then grab it tightly--don't just hold the loop in your hand. If he bolts, you've still got him. 5- This should not cost you anything. Expenses are covered for drivers--Gas is always covered. Just let us know how much you spend. If you need to get anything for Max along the way--something from a pet store, vet stop, whatever, it's covered. 6-TAKE PICTURES along the way, and at handoffs. Let me know if you want your face blurred out before we post on Arfcom. 7-There will be stickers in the bucket. Take one. 8- THANK YOU. You are what makes SemperFi Dog Rescue work. SemperFi has never lost a dog or had any issues as far as I know or remember, and I believe it is because we follow these rules. New-to-us, high-energy, strong dog going through a lot of changes. We don't assume he's going to do what we expect. Please IM @44-40Pro with your contact information and location? ALL, I will LITERALLY be driving to Motoguy's house in the next weekend or two. Even though I'm coming from KC (Wrong side of LOTO), I don't mind driving 'round the other side to meet someone and then coming back through, so to speak. I have vacation time I need to burn so if I make this a weekday trip, it's a non-issue. Only catch for Motoguy is that he might have to hang out with ol' JOSbunchanumbers, and I might guilt him into seeing his folks. I'm not sure if pup has made the full destination or not, but I'm literally 'going that way'. PM me if needed. Sorry I didn't post sooner, this was the first I'd seen of it. |

Dog is in Kentucky and going to Cedar Falls, Iowa. Trip cannot begin before Oct 19th. But hopefully it can happen as soon as possible after we have the dog in hand. |
