Congratulations to the new dog friends. @boolzi Semper Fi Dog Rescue was started by a man named Mark (Username Joker1) years back. Mark rescued dogs, trained them, and placed them with all kinds of people--whoever was good for dog, and dog for person. But a lot of what he did was through Arfcom. AND....when a dog needed to be moved across country, members here stepped up to run legs of the transport, in a relay to move the dog. Always at no cost to the arfcom member receiving the dog. Mark put everything he had--literally--into the dogs. He lived in a rough house without the normal comforts most of us demand, and put his monthly check into food, meds, vet bills...anything the dogs needed, often putting his own health in jeopardy. Because if it came to his medicine, or the dog's needs....it always went to the dogs. And last year we finally lost Mark because the stubborn old coot of a wonderful human being would not take help easily, and would never ask. When he got sick and it became clear he could not take care of the dogs anymore, he handed the reins of SFDR to Jordan, a fellow rescuer he trusted completely. She was a member here, but was not wise in the ways of Arfcom. Striker set up a forum for her so she could post the happenings without having to navigate the vagaries of General Discussion. BUT...most of us know that's where the greatest traffic happens. So I hit up Striker and said, "let me help." So our roles have become....Jordan is the rescue maven. All final decisions about dogs are hers, because that's her wheelhouse. I try to keep Arfcom informed, and I post the threads in Team, GD, Hometown Forums, or wherever I need to make noise, to get Jordan, and the dogs, the help she needs. If you watch this thread, you will see a transport happen here shortly. We will be moving Loki to his new home with @Reconsix! If you see SFDR in the title, we are doing something, and we would love to have you join in the threads. Ways to help are to bump the threads so they stay up on page 1, be moral support by becoming part of our community, OR...those who are blessed with extra can choose to donate. Jump in GD and see if there is an active SFDR thread, start on page 1 and read. What you will find is men and women from all walks of life who share a common goal of making the world for these needy animals a brighter place. You will be reminded that despite what you’ve been told, decency and compassion is still alive and well. That you are not powerless to effect positive change. And finally, there is reason to be optimistic about the future of the human species.. Many hands make light work…. |

Loki does not have 1 mean Bone in him, zero zip and nada. I live 30 minutes from KC and we have to many pandhandlers at every stop light. With the words/command ( learned from my Yellow Lab Lacey)who is it and watch um Loki will bark with his deep intimidating voice. The bums/pandhandlers will immediately retreat from my car. When Loki pokes his head out the window the pandhandlers really move ever so fast. how I Love Loki. |

Seriously...even in smaller towns, panhandlers are becoming a thing. A dog that says, "oh no you donut" is a very good thing. |

Everybody who originally offered to help with transport, check the original post.. Updates on the route! We are going from Kansas City to Northern Ohio (Youngstown area). Anybody available along the way to help a dog get to his forever home? Chime in. and y'all, help me keep this bumped please? We paused for tornadoes and vet appointments. Time to move! Let's get Loki home. |

A small branch fell and knocking my antenna off and denting my car roof. Lol I will transport Loki to Eagle eye shooting range in Wentzville. I spent 6 months helping build this Sorry that is the closest I can get to Enemy lines ;) |
