One moon-lit night over 6 years ago, I was out at a lake about 40 minutes from my house fishing for smelt (never caught any). It was about a mile walk from where I parked my car. The stream that fed the lake had this animal in it and I fished it out with some sticks. I posted it here but no one was able to identify it. It was a creepy night. Two drunk guys show up and started to build a fire while I was wading in the water. They were going to fish later: http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/C-4C/SmeltRun.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/C-4C/DeadThing2.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/C-4C/DeadThing1.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/C-4C/DeadThing3.jpg This is was still in my photobucket account. Looks like a wet, half-rotted raccoon to me. |

Another trip with some friends a LONG time ago near a civil war battlefield ended up with me tripping over the muzzle of a BP cannon that was almost completely buried in the mud. It's still there too.
But the creepiest thing I've ever encountered in the woods was near the boundary waters in Minnesota. On a hunting trip that was to last a week, we camped out near a lake. My friend had his PVS5 goggles with him and he saw what he said was a man on the other side of the lake kneeling down like he was drinking water. We were miles from any roads or civilization at all. We all looked through the goggles and saw the figure across the lake. I watched as he got up and turned and walked into the woods. Next morning, we rounded the lake and found the spot he'd been at. There were huge and deep prints in the mud. The next night a little further west from where we had been, something was out in the woods around our camp site. We smelled this rotten odor and kept hearing these strange noises like sticks being banged together, grunts, small saplings being shaken. Never saw anything but something was definitely out there watching us. None of us got any sleep that night. Just before sunrise, something screamed in the woods. I've never heard anything like it before or since. Last one. Hunting in Colorado. Guy I was with and his brother literally tripped over a bag of old money. There was about $10,000 in the bag. Turned it in to the local sheriff. They had no idea where it came from or why it was up there. Sheriff called the guy I was with and told him to come pick it up a month later. We split the money between the three of us. |

When I go up to the mountains I always have at least my 1911 with me. As a city boy the woods can get creepy fast! |

Walked up on guy standing over a rotting deer corpse jerking off while hunting one morning. We made and help eye contact as I slowly walked backwards into the woods. Never said a word but I kept my rifle at low ready the whole time. Did he stop jerking off?
I thought hunting deer with rifle was illegal in Illinois? |

I thought hunting deer with rifle was illegal in Illinois? Yes but he never dropped his cock. He just stopped mid stroke and held position. It is illegal to hunt deer with a rifle in Illinois. This was a week or so past end of deer season and I was out coyote hunting. |

A few years back I was hiking a part of the Ozark trail near Taum Sauk mountain with my dad. We rounded a curve and met a Muslim family walking the other way. The guy was in a long black robe, the wife was in a full burka, and their daughter was dressed normally.
When we walked past each other the guy looked ticked that we were out there with them. Not really creepy. More of a CSB kinda story. |

You found the bridge to Terebithia! Those who don't every venture off the beaten path will never know the feeling those of us that do do. That feeling of uneasiness where the hair on the back of your neck stands up and you get that, literal, gut feeling. It's that sixth sense that lets you know something isn't right and it's time to get the fuck out of there ASAP. The adrenaline dump is insane... |

WTF? Other than muzzle loaders yes. The argument being too many stray shots ending up in homes and farm equipment/livestock. Pretty flat and wide open state in most parts. Yet I can hunt coyote with anything I want up to a 50BMG.

There was this one time I went to Galveston to do some surf fishing as the reports were pretty positive. What I didn't expect was to be there when there was some sort of gay pride garbage going on.

I was doing some climbing at Joshua Tree National Park and found a particularly difficult section of sheer cliff. I went to grab a handhold and my hand went THROUGH the rock. Or what I thought was rock. Turned out someone had discovered a little nature made hidey-hole and covered it up with mud and rocks. I discovered a jewelry box inside it. Inside the jewelry box were a bunch of love letters, tickets to some sort of nightclub, a plain band type ring, a lock of hair, and a tiny tiny doll sized china set. The date for the nightclub tickets was 1938.
I felt like I was intruding looking at all the stuff so I put it all back in the box and closed the hole back up. |

I was walking my dog on a path that goes through the woods when I heard a twig snap. My dog went crazy, fur on end barking in the direction of the noise.
I stopped and looked, there was a man wearing a dark hood just slowly walking towards me
Needless to say I carried on 'walking'

When I was a kid my brother was in the Army up in Natick, MA, and we used to drive up to visit him every once in a while. The one time we had stopped at a highway rest stop for a while, and while my family was busy I decided to do some exploring in the woods around the parking lot. I had wandered in a little ways when I came across a stuffed teddy bear laying in the mud. For some reason, that really creeped me out. After standing there staring at it for a few moments, I heard my parents call me and I ran back to the parking lot and we continued our trip. I guess I always kinda wondered if some little girl had gotten lost in the woods and dropped her bear. |

A lemon party in progress. I backed out quickly I am not even going to google that, don't want to know Curiosity got to me Lemonparty: Lemonparty.org contains an image of three elderly naked men in a bed kissing and having oral sex. The song If You Wanna Be Happy by Jimmy Soul plays in the background. The image has been mentioned on some television shows such as a sketch on Talkshow with Spike Feresten,[12] and dialogue on Archer, The Simpsons,[13] The Cleveland Show and 30 Rock.[14][15] The website has also been described by Jimmy Fallon on the Opie and Anthony radio show,[16] on Chelsea Handler's TV show Chelsea Lately,[17] Michael J. You have to forward the link to 20 of your closest family members by noon, or you'll be attacked by elderly gay dudes, and labeled a rabid Obama supporter. |

A squirrel cut in half by a train I saw when walking the tracks back home after checking my trap-line when I was a teen.
You could see it's tracks in the snow where it came out of the woods and jumped on the rail. The really odd thing is the train seldom went much more than 15-20 mph through there. You would have thought it could have got out of the way.

| As I teenager I was hunting and stumbled across some half buried mason jars w/ blood in them. Between the smell (opened one up) and the viscosity I'm sure it was blood. I have no idea what they were doing there other than we had some questionable people that lived a little ways away from that spot. I avoided the spot for a while and when I went back to it the jars were gone. |

Somebody wrecked a Lockheed T2V (1960s jet trainer) in the woods in West Milford where I used to live. I never heard the details of the landing, but it was largely intact. Whoever operated it removed the electronics and engine but left the body in place. The woods were pretty thick and there was a marsh in between it and the road, so they probably decided it was easier to leave it there. LINK |

While walking in the woods scouting I heard something following me. Freaked my dog out to no end, she kept turning around and growling low at whatever was behind us. Never saw what it was, when I stopped, it stopped, when I walked I could head it snapping twigs behind me. Got to the truck, threw the dog in and drove like hell. She has never acted like that before or since, I snapped a picture of her looking back while we were walking out http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg76/gi57/Ember/IMG_3252.jpg very likely you were being stalked by a mountain lion |

My cousin and I were catching shiners early one morning before sunrise for a canoe trip up into the backcountry in Charlotte Harbor in FL. A baby coon came walking up crying then climbed up my cousins leg and perched on his shoulder, reaching and crying towards the cast net he was holding that had some smaller fish gilled up in in. We pulled out fish and fed the little guy till his belly was round.
We named him Cooney, finished up catching bait and got in the truck, Cooney followed and cried while reaching up on the door so I let him in. He climbed up on the back of the bench seat and sat there. Oh well, another pet, we decided to take him fishing with us for the day. Later that day, coon sleeping happily in my lap, we were out on the water in a secluded place amongst the mangroves in the bayou when a woman appeared on the far shoreline.
My cousin being the whorehound he is joked about her "wantin him"... That's when she started clapping her hands over her head and started dancing. We sat there stupified as she slowly did a striptease. She appeared again, in a thong, a mid-thirties brunnette with a rather nice figure. She looked at us and started dancing again, this time in full nasty stripper porn mode including manipulation of all her woman parts for our enjoyment. We were pretty much stunned as we sat there watching but she quickly ran into the brush again without a sound. Cousin was in full rut by this time and started headind to the shore again. I had to beat him in the head with a paddle to stop him, the coon was running around the boat screaming . After I knocked some sense into him, we guided the boat around the mangroves to see if anything was on the other side where she headed. Sure enough there were several greasy lookin dudes all standing around talking with nekkid chick as she pointed back to the spot we were at and threw her hands up in the air like she had failed at something. Then we got spotted, dudes started hollering and came after us. We got the hell outta dodge, kept the coon and went back the following weekend. With rifles, binoculars and a camera. |
