[ARCHIVED THREAD] - New EE ad volume way down (Page 6 of 9)

Quoted: I don't know what lunacy was prevalent when decided to micromanage so much of the price/offer discovery process, but I'm not a fan. Please shitcan this new EE. Yeah, that's my ultimate takeaway. A lot of unnecessary micromanagement that does the opposite of improving the buyer/seller interaction experience. |
| I remember the old new EE around 08 or 09. It was utter shite. Staff said “Nyet, new EE is fine!”. Membership kept pressing and saying “this is complete shit”. No one wanted to listen, no one used the EE except the vendors. It withered on the vine and died. I guess we’ll see what happens with the new old abomination |

Quoted: By this standard seatbelts wouldn't be in cars because people complained about them being uncomfortable compared to not wearing them. Kids wear helmets skiing. Parents said they're unnecessary because for years they skied without them. Now if some place requires it they should listen to people who ski for longer than the resort has been open. Not all change is bad. Sometimes the change of a speed limit is better even if you disagree with it. It doesn't matter how many times you've driven down the road. This EE could be easier to manage on the backside of things and weed out fake accounts or something. I don't know. I don't care. The prices in the EE are sometimes ridiculous and the last thread on the topic was about people not putting up pictures, asking stupid prices, not replying to messages, and then wondering why their stuff won't sell. 'I'm asking 95% of new plus shipping with no photos. Why won't my stuff sell? I only take a personal check.' Quoted: Quoted: Love how the low feedback count members dismiss the high feedback members' complaints as whining, boomerism, tech incompetence, or afraid of change. Personally, when a 600+ feedback member indicates the new system is unsatisfactory, I'd give it some credence. But hey, basic respect for others isn't really a thing anymore. Quoted: the New Coke operation was a scam to cover for switching from cane sugar to high fructose corm syrup Quoted: Quoted: For those too young to understand it. Coke almost sank their brand by coming out with New Coke, tasted like Pepsi. People hated it. Coke tried to tell us that it was good but it sucked. They brought back the original coke and quietly dropped the new crap. Management listened. |
|
Quoted: The problem with the EE was fixed. Only there wasn’t a problem with the EE. I’ve watched companies I worked for spend lots of money and resources to fix problems that didn’t exist. And all the people there agree what bullshit it is to be spending the money/resources/time on it.... except the top. Who makes the change, even if it didn't need it. So it goes. |

Quoted: I don't know what lunacy was prevalent when decided to micromanage so much of the price/offer discovery process, but I'm not a fan. Please shitcan this new EE. Soon 87% of listings will be from dealers. Why wouldn't I list everything in my store if the only fee I have is if I sell it. |
|
Quoted: It is necessary since they are charging transaction fees for dealers. Soon 87% of listings will be from dealers. Why wouldn't I list everything in my store if the only fee I have is if I sell it. | Volume does seem to be down, and I find no additional value in the new system. In fact, I often ask a question or two for clarification on condition or whatever and have a little interaction prior to making a purchase. This is an attempt to make the process very transactional, which has both good and bad points. Overall, I like the old version, but that ship may have sailed. It wouldn't be the first thing folks don't love since the Brownells acquisition. |

Quoted: Why would a NIB posting need a picture? It's NIB! Quoted: Quoted: Hate opening ads to see a big blank area where a picture should be. The new EE should prevent posting without a f*****ing picture. Why would a NIB posting need a picture? It's NIB! After many years of playing on the internet, both here and elsewhere, I've bought several NIB items that were clearly not NIB. Pics or GTFO. |

Quoted: That's not a very well-thought-out argument. Previously, Dealers paid a monthly or yearly fee regardless of anything they listed in the EE. Why wouldn't they have already been doing that? I wouldn't be surprised if there is pressure to change the revenue model. Large part of revenue coming from individuals voluntarily donating to a commercial site owned by major firearms retailer can't be sustainable forever. |

Quoted: I am not saying I agree with it, but it is a valid argument. How else are they going to keep track of each transaction so they can charge the fees per transaction without monitoring sale price? Previously the fees were just a blanket fee to to be allowed to use the EE, not a per completed transaction fee. I wouldn't be surprised if there is pressure to change the revenue model. Large part of revenue coming from individuals voluntarily donating to a commercial site owned by major firearms retailer can't be sustainable forever. Large part of revenue coming from individuals voluntarily donating to a commercial site owned by major firearms retailer can't be sustainable forever. If it cost a dealer $1000 per year to have an account here (no idea on cost) and that's all they paid under the old system, they could list everything they had in inventory and regardless of the price it sold for or the volume of stuff they listed, their costs would not increase. Under the new system, dealers only pay based on a percentage (up to a limit) of what an item sells for. That means that high volume dealers will end up paying more than they did under the old system, as their volume of stuff that they list, sells. |

IMO because a industry account here is expensive (for good reason, a lot of traffic / advertising opportunity here) and that keeps out really small dealers. If it is on a per ad basis, it makes it more viable for a small dealer / company |

Quoted: No, it's not. You said: "Soon 87% of listings will be from dealers. Why wouldn't I list everything in my store if the only fee I have is if I sell it." That's what I am contending from you that makes little sense. If it cost a dealer $1000 per year to have an account here (no idea on cost) and that's all they paid under the old system, they could list everything they had in inventory and regardless of the price it sold for or the volume of stuff they listed, their costs would not increase. Maybe they can add an Armslist style button to ONLY see private sales and not dealers? Probably not New EE still sucks just trying to navigate let alone the extra time to create a listing |
|
Every new EE thread(before they are inevitability closed and locked) is filled with multiple pages of posts from high EE feedback users on how much the new EE sucks ass, sprinkled with a few random "i like it" posts by low or no EE feedback posters. It would be nice if the owners of this site actually listened to their main customer base. Not once have I seen an owner state why the change was needed in the first place. The amount of time and money to change something that was liked, simple and arguably one of the best forum marketplaces on the net into something that looks scammy, cluttered and off putting is just plain odd. And I think that the end result of this change was so the new EE will eventually become a fee based system to generate revenue per ad. Its at the dealer level currently and will trickle down to all EE user in time. Death by a thousand cuts and its unfortunate. |

| I also thought that you could post as many threads as you wanted due to the fact that the feedback system works on a one item per thread basis... however, I got a notification that I can't post more than 10 ads at a time... that's super helpful... I remember when I could post a single ad with more than 10 items and feedback could be left... what was wrong with that? |

Quoted: Seconded Quoted: Quoted: I vote for bringing back the old EE. It was simple and it worked fine. Seconded Third! New Volume is way down. Shit used to you could open up used upper parts and optics and in a few hours stuff would be on a different page. Now I have seen the same shit on pages for two plus days. This new EE was a terrible idea. |

Now I have seen the same shit on pages for two plus days. This new EE was a terrible idea. It’s almost like they want it to fail. Click on the EE tab and you go to the old EE. I don’t even know how to find the new one unless I happen to see the tread that announced it. I have zero desire to go looking for it either. That’s probably a huge issue |

Quoted: It’s almost like they want it to fail. It's a tough call. Generally if you're two options are incompetence or sabotage, incompetence is the right answer I think at this point it's probably a blend of incompetence followed by hubris It's clear this new ee isn't working(to put it mildly), and maybe that's just incompetence. But the fact they aren't listening, and refuse to fix it, could be just hubris Or form some reasons things are going to plan. I can't tell. All we know are the observable facts: the EE is a dumpster fire, crossed with a shit show. And those in charge are still smiling and telling us it's better this way I think the facts could support either conclusion |

I’m just waiting for the betters to start referring to the new EE as the old EE. /George Orwell “Being in a minority, even in a minority of one, did not make you mad. There was truth and there was untruth, and if you clung to the truth even against the whole world, you were not mad.” This is the way the EE the EE has always been. It’s improved from what it used to be. |
|
Quoted: I changed my mind. Because it sucks and no one is using it I scored a like new Colt N1 stock for a great price that would have been gone in less than a minute before. And I'm sure there's a lot less work for the mods/staff/admins without anyone using the ee So it's not all bad right? Every mushroom cloud has a silver lining or something |
