My youngest son said something today as I was driving that just knocked my socks off. I am usually a skeptic about stuff like this, but it left me really scratching my head.

First, some backstory:

For about exactly one year now, my estranged wife and I have been separated (long story for another post). During that time she decided to move across town, and since we each split custody of our two kids, I spend a lot of time driving them around. My youngest (Jacob/4yo) has been diagnosed with Autism. He is quite high functioning, but it's pretty obvious that he is not a typically developing child. He's not much of a talker, but he has speech and can have conversations when prompted.

On our morning commute, I decided to take a new shortcut on the way to UW campus after having dropped off my oldest at school. I was driving back roads, and we passed some building in the Fremont/Wallingford area of Seattle. Out of nowhere, Jacob announced rather bluntly that "he had been in 'that' building before he was a baby." I thought it was quite a profound statement, and questioned him about it a few times to make sure that is what he really meant. He confirmed it over and over that he meant before he was born, and I just chalked it up as something kids say, and didn't make too much out of it, as I had midterm exam to concentrate on.

This evening, I stopped by my folks place to visit and have some dinner. As I related what I said to my parents, my dad was shocked. He pointed out that our family had once owned a business in that vicinity—around the WW2 era till the 1960s. Now my curiosity was piqued, and we both decided to pull out our phone and point out on a map where: a) Jake had said what he said, and b) where the family business was... Neither of us would look at each other's map as we looked so that we wouldn't be influenced by the other person. When we looked at the others' map, WE HAD EACH POINTED TO THE SAME BLOCK... We were both stunned. My dad and I are thinking of finding old pictures of the building and just leaving them out to see if he makes another mention of it. Not really sure what it would prove if he did make another mention of it, but it's fun to think about.

Normally I am a skeptic about paranormal stuff, but due to Jake's autism, he doesn't just blurt out profound statements like this. Does it have to do with reincarnation? I don't know, but I can tell you that it is one hell of a coincidence if it doesn't.

Anyway, my mind is blown right now, and I thought I'd post and ask if anyone else had any similar stories.

Cool story, bro and all that...

Edit: Bad grammar, yo.

Edit 2: Wrote the estranged one an email about this. She was as amazed and surprised as I was, and does not know where he might have gotten the idea that he had been there.

Now to find a good pic of the old building (Lumber warehouse/surrounding businesses).

Edit 3: My dad and I got together to look through some old maps and archive pics. Here is what we believe to be the only remaining building in the area EXACTLY where he said what he did. Across the street would have been the lumber yard, and this was a bakery my grandfather & family would have gone to for lunch, etc. My dad says he remembers it. Still looking through the Seattle municipal archives for older pics.

My brother said when I was little I always told him crazy stories about my past lives and things I had did.

I never remember telling him anything.

There are some pretty interesting videos and documentaries about young children recalling past lives even VERY specific things.

It is pretty interesting.

I, like the OPs son, have autism(He and I have had conversations about this on Facebook, but anyways).

25 years ago, my mother's dad died.  I don't remember any of this, but I was 3, and like the OP's son, had very limited speech at that time.

Apparently, my mom was crying and I came up to her and said "Grandfather told me everything would be all right."

Of course my mom was bewildered by this but she thinks that maybe my grandfather was telling me, from beyond the grave, that everything would be all right.

I think leaving some pictures out, with no prompting, is a good idea. Seeing the building got him to initiate a conversation.

When I was younger I experienced several instances of very strong deja vu.

I think the coolest part of the whole thing is the potential family connection. It's one thing to Have a feeling of reincarnation, but it's another to have it were long dead family members would have spent so much time.

I would take your son seriously, this is actually a fairly well known but misunderstood phenomenon. There was a fairly in depth study of a child in Great Britain who remembered a past life very vividly, to the point he remembered his "first family" the location of their old home, and even talked about desperately missing his "other mom". He even remembered their first and last names. As he grew older, the memories faded and he stopped talking about it as often, and eventually dropped the idea all together. I really believe kids are more open to alternate realities and what not, possibly due to their innocence and lack of pre conceived ideas about reality. When my grandmother died in 2006, my 3 year old niece pointed at the ceiling when she passed, and said "look at all the angels coming to take Grandma home".

I'm a firm believer in genetic memory.

If i asked you to build me a trebuchet, could you?

Remember it used to take highly skilled engineers to build them back then.

Or for a more modern day thing, the newer generations and high tec gadgets, they just seam to KNOW how to work them.

Some animals  just KNOW how to do thing's.  Clearly its not magic. So there must be some how they know these thing's.

People as much as some want to deny it, are animals.  Whats to say we didn't have this same ability to just know things, its just been evolved out of over time.

--------------------------

But you know man was magicked in to being, the universe is a lie, and the world is only 5000 years old.

I've learned to trust my five year old when he tells me random stuff like that. He usually doesn't make statements when we talk. He ends up asking more questions than anything, but he's been right on every time. I've had to apologize for trying to correct him and not believing what he said.

The first time anything like that happened, he told me that he was sad because my mother's cat, Jumper, was lost. I assured him there was no need to be sad and that Jumper was fine. I spoke with my mother a few hours later and she told me her cat died early that morning. As soon as he found out he said, "See! I told you!" I didn't know what to think of it. I still don't, really.

I think most of us, if we are fully honest with ourselves, have at some point in our lives experienced something strange along these same lines. How many of you have been somewhere before, a place you know you've never in your life visited previously, but a place you also instinctively know you've been to before? I have. And it is indeed a weird and creepy feeling. It is so weird and creepy in fact that I'm reluctant to even mention the particulars of my experience because it flat out gives me the willies.

I'm not autistic, but when I was about 13 I was in my closet changing clothes and I felt my grandfather die. He was 500 miles away, but it hit me like an incredible pain in my stomach. It was devastating and it literally took me down to the floor, like I'd been punched or something. The sensation lasted for about 20 seconds, and then it just lifted off of me and I felt this sense of relief. An hour later we received a call that he had died. I guess I already knew, but I didn't feel all that sad even though I loved him very much, I just had this feeling of peace.

That reminds me of a story I read in one of David Hackworth's books about Vietnam. The mother of one of his troops was lying in bed one night when she suddenly startled awake to a sharp pain in her neck. She was convinced she had been shot. As it turned out, her son had been shot in the neck by the VC and killed, and as best as the family could piece things together, it occurred at roughly the same time as the mother had her strange experience. Some things...you just can't explain.

I remember the night of 02Apr2009 and going to bed around 2300.

My friend Brandon had usually called me during the day to say what's up and all but on that day he didn't.

Around 8pm that night I was at church and this uneasy feeling was over me and couldn't put my finger on it.  He had just been involved in an accident.

When I went to bed I never really fell asleep fully but in that first level of sleep where you're ready go to into a deep sleep but never got past it.  I was slightly aware and felt like I was in a cell in a castle or something and couldn't really tell why.

At 0200 on 10Apr2009, Brandon's ex called me and I knew exactly why.

I couldn't explain why I knew something was wrong but at that hour, I knew it.

Sometimes we have these experiences because they are being told to us without a word ever being spoken.

RIP Kelso.

You know sometimes I wonder how often these things might happen even just on a daily basis, but they are too subtle to notice. Maybe we only pick up on it when it's at it's most dramatic. I don't doubt your son has some sort of connection, but only God could possibly know what it means.

The capabilities of consciousness are limitless, yet restricted and governed by the crude vessel we inhibit.

Children are more sensitive an connected because they are less removed from the source of their higher self.   We are also starting to see an evolution in human consciousness. Look up "indigo children".

Our physiology also has a part to play in it, and as we get older,  our "receptors" become less effective for a myriad of reasons.

Damn, dug out my baby book looking for the list of words my Mom wrote down that I started saying when I was like 1 1/2 or almost 2.

It was a lot of weird turn of the century slang and WW1 military jargon.  IIRC she wrote about 10-15 words down, but there was over 20, just took her a minute to find a pencil and paper.
Saw the paper a couple years ago, and it was pretty creepy, since a lot of it just flat out is not common language. I'll dig more tomorrow and see if I can find it.

I had a similar experience with my middle grandson when he was visiting one summer.  I don't remember his exact age, maybe 5 or 6.  He was telling me about the construction work he did with  his dad who was a heavy equipment operator (whenever the lazy bastard decided to work), and I thought he was just telling me that he had gone out on the job site with mom to pick up dad after work and maybe got to ride a machine.

Then he started telling me about a horrible accident where either there was a landslide or some sort of collapse where they were buried/crushed and they both died.  Of course, I told him how terrible that was and how it must have been a horrible accident.  He kind of shook his head yeah, very seriously, and then said "but that was from before, when my dad was my brother."

Totally freaked me out.  I wish I would have asked him a few more questions about where they were, what kind of clothes they were wearing, etc, to try to get a time frame and where it happened, but I was just so shocked.

Everyone you are close to today has been with you before and will be with you in the future.
I truly believe this. The soul is immortal and will be back again in various guises.
My 4 yr old grand niece has said things to make me believe she is the soul of my brother who passed away 18 yrs ago.
He loved his daughter so much am I sure he returned to be with her.
Look into books by Michael Newton PH.D, Life between Lives and Destiny of Souls
Your son is unique as you know and is someone from your past life history. He soul has chosen to be here for a reason.
I do not doubt this one bit
