[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Missing411 (Page 2 of 5)

Quoted: He twists details. I did some research about the Cades Cove kid a few years back after reading or hearing his version. Now,I’d take whatever his version of a story is with a grain of salt. I was just going to mention this. My FIL grew up with Jim Rike's son, knew the family well and was privy to a lot of the details of the investigation. There have been liberties taken with the Martin story. |

Quoted: How likely is it that the parks are protecting samsquatch? I've heard they often do the same with mountain lions, not informing the public that there may or not be a predator in the area. Mountain lions can have huge territories. I highly doubt samsquatch could exist without being seen by someone. That hundreds, if not thousands, of Federal employees have been conspiring for decades to hide the greatest biological discovery of all time strains belief. That's like 9/11 conspiracy level stuff. And isn't it interesting that in an era where everyone has an HD camera in their pocket no one has gotten good video? Very strange.... |

Quoted: Pretty much all of our nations knew of them and had tribal names/meanings for them. It seems that there were regional differences in how they were viewed by "The People". Some nations feared them more than others. All respected them. Basically, in my nation and others, they are spiritual beings, able to manifest as physical, at their choosing. This explains no bodies, bones etc. But few outside of the nations, listen to these things. I know about northern an northwestern tribes, but wondered about plains living ones Thanks for the insight ! |

One of his first two books talked about a case involving two Maine Fish and Game Agents. Handpicked guys who were supposed to be the best. They were tasked with nailing some poachers in a certain area of woods. They camped out in an area for a couple days. Both disappeared and were later found dead during the spring thaw months later. One guy was found drowned in a river. And the other guy was way upstream dead. I don’t think either had been shot. Experienced guys who know those woods don’t just die from exposure to the elements or drown. |

Quoted: He twists details. I did some research about the Cades Cove kid a few years back after reading or hearing his version. Now,I’d take whatever his version of a story is with a grain of salt. During spring break of the mid 90s we spent 3 seasons tent camping in cades cove. That is is you were sober enough to make it back to you tent. |

Quoted: I've been listening to his channel. Great content if you like spooky stuff. he is the only YouTuber I subscribe to and make sure I catch every time he uploads. He and I had very similar experiences in our time in the Military, I DM’d him just to say that i know what he went through sucks and that I appreciate that he is doing well and thriving in his new business. I didn’t expect for him to even see the message, but He wrote back and seems like an extremely good guy. |
|
Quoted: Related to this. There is a Canadian guy on YouTube, channel is name howtohunt. The guy had tons of hunting stories since he is a hunting guide. Well. A few months ago he started talking about his encounter with a Sasquatch/Bigfoot when he was a kid... and since then he keeps talking about that. I can’t decide if he is honest or does it because it brings viewers to his channel I watch that from time to time. I'm thinking he found a way to make money off Bigfoot stories. I take them with a grain of salt- mere entertainment. I like the channel though. |

Quoted: More details please. I've heard other people say he cherry picks cases and sometimes forces them to fit his "profile" of the anomalous ones, but people seldom go into any kind of detailed proof of this. I'll bite. Here is a repost from the UFO/Cryptid forum on this exact topic: Some good reading: https://skepticalinquirer.org/2017/07/an-investigation-of-the-missing411-conspiracy/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Missing411/comments/4gfb58/are_there_any_facts_or_evidence_that_disprove/ In-depth Amazon review of his Missing 411 book (NOT written by me): https://www.amazon.com/review/R17M0AXEMAG3HT Paulides did a segment on the case of a missing California deputy sheriff here: ![]() David Paulides Presents Two Missing Person Cases from The Los Angeles Area Paulides left out some VERY relevant information regarding the circumstances of the deputy coming up missing, including that the deputy's own wife thought he was going to kill himself and made the statements, “Have a nice life” and “Tell Chloe I love her" right before he headed out for his hike. And why is this NOT mentioned by Paulides at all??? https://www.strangeoutdoors.com/mysterious-stories-blog/2020/5/2/jonathan-aujay The last thing Debra remembers Jon saying the morning of the Punchbowl run was “Have a nice life” and “Tell Chloe I love her.” The night he went missing, Debbie spoke to a private investigator to find out whether Aujay was cheating on her. But she abandoned that line of inquiry after learning it would cost her $500. Soon she began to think her husband’s good-bye seemed like that of a man planning to kill himself. In retrospect she thought Jon had been acting differently: There had been a cold, intense look in his eye the final time she saw him, and a month before, during an argument about their relationship, he had held a loaded gun to his temple as he drove the freeway. “What do you want me to do, kill myself?” he asked. Shocked, Debra burst into tears in the passenger seat. In the case I specifically noted, he chose to leave out extremely relevant information (the deputy's wife even thought he was going to commit suicide). Why did Paulides leave that and other information which would have shown that he likely committed suicide? It wouldn't help his 411 mystery narrative would it? And yes, I have read some of his books, then did research on the cases. He presents the cases like a defense attorney, rather than an unbiased investigator. Trust me, I would love to believe some of the stuff he puts out there, but when you see time and time again that he is NOT disclosing VERY relevant information, it makes the whole mystery plausibility seem less and less likely. And as for the FOIA requests related to missing people in national parks, he is asking for volumes of information, not just a basic list. So yes, they are going to charge him for his commercial venture. Or should they hire a person whose sole job is to go park to park photocopying and then have an attorney review tens of thousands of documents, which he is asking for a future book/movie? Last time I checked there are no minimum wage gov jobs. So anyone tasked with doing this FOIA research (record pulls, photocopying, etc.) is going to cost some $$$. And his LE career with the San Jose Police Department. I bet Pauledis never mentioned this incident where a warrant was filed for his arrest (according to the local newspaper). Sounds like a career ending event to me. Attached File |
| Listened to several of his videos. Very creepy, but I basically chalked it up to him selling books. He discussed a number of scenarios when very young kids disappeared during cold, usually rainy conditions. Kid reappears a number of days later. After questioning how they survived the kids all said that bears had protected them. A while later there was a kid in a neighboring state that disappeared. Cold, rainy weather. I followed it on the news.. He reappeared after 3 or 4 days. During news conference with sheriff's dept, they said they were investigating how he survived the bad weather, and so far all they had to go on was the kid said a bear protected him. Freaky stuff |

Quoted: Check out MrBallen's channel on Youtube. Dude is a former navy seal that has a ton of spooky videos and is a great story teller. He has one playlist dedicated solely to missing 411 stories. I got hooked on it like Hunter Biden to crack. Watched every single one of his videos now. +1 on this! Dude is a great storyteller. |

Whatever you think of David Paulides, my heart goes out to him and his family right now. Not to mention that things were going well for the Missing 411 project. He and John Ballen were going to collaborate on some stuff and he recently got news he could start filming in National Parks for the next movie. Also, people commenting on this phenomenon being bullshit should read some of the books instead of going off internet hit pieces designed to discredit the man and his work. The National Park system is just as deviant and corrupt as the fed government. They know something sinister is going on with these disappearances and won't release information about them. |

Can you expand ? Another question. Do plains Indians have bigfeet in their oral traditions and stories ? I only know about them because I watched the 'Missing 411: The Hunted' film last month. I don't know if my ancestors had any knowledge of them, I'm an adopted kid raised in the city by a white family. Any knowledge I've gained about this is courtesy of the internet. Quoted: Yeah that was a freaky one. Something snatched his ass. And it wasn’t a mountain lion. Yup what ever it was picked him up over the fence and dangled him upside down . Change that fell out of pocket was next to the tools that fell out of his belt. The guys in front of him never heard a thing it was that fast . One second he's there behind him and next second he's gone. |

Another real strange one is the hiking field trip a classroom took where a student vanished who was last in line . Her friend was the last one to see her . She said she was up a bit on the trail and turned around and saw her stop and look off the trail into the forest . She turned around to start walking and turned back and she was gone . The teachers called for help and has SAR there within a couple of hours with tracking dogs . They determined no animal took her because they knew the exact spot on the trail she vanished on by her friend that saw her standing there . No drag marks , no animal tracks just vanished . |

I was listening to the stories on the MrBallen channel and he told the one about the young woman who went "missing" in SC in 1989 (Missing 411 part 17). I haven't read any of Paulides stuff so I assume Ballen is just rephrasing it but that story was a load of crap. I was going to Clemson at the time and had pretty extensive knowledge of that area and nobody up there believed her story. There used to be far more mountain type folks up there and my friends and I met some strange folks over the years and had a few strange encounters, but she just wasn't credible, especially given that Bad Creek Project was running 24hrs a day at that time and lit up the night sky. |

About a year ago, he told his UFO story, after not speaking of it for 30+ years. As it happened, he radioed another officer, miles away, who saw the same thing. They pretty much agreed not to talk about it. |

Quoted: Ok. How much bigger? If Sasquatch, and other cryptids, do exist and people are having encounters with it, then one would have to ask the question why doesn't the government or the scientific community know anything about it? And if at least the government does know about it, then we would want to know why it is being concealed? The scope of the program is proportional to the motivations for it's concealment. Here are few possibilities to consider. 1) Most people really don't want the truth. That is a fact! It is easy to lie to people who prefer it over the truth. 2) These entities represent an existential threat. Managing discrete problems that surface and using the concealment phase to study and develop effective weapons would be prudent. Going all in would certainly expose the program and be counterproductive. Likewise, a malevolent interest might also desire the cultivation of the threat, but have tools to control it. 3) These entities possess novel attributes that could be studied and weaponized. Furthermore, they represent supranational concerns and "technology" that would appeal to power brokers. 4) Ultimately this is most likely part of an even larger program of associated things. |
