If trump pardons him for a crime that the DOJ claims trump had a role in ordering, then that would make things a million times worse for him.

All expenses have to be disclosed. This was not
Not a campaign expenditure and it was Trump's own money.

Even if it is illegal despite all that, how does being the lawyer that handled the transaction become illegal?
Well, first off he lied about it...

And from what I gather, he didn't exactly lie.
He misstated simple/stupid things like saying an email was sent on a different date then it was actually sent on.

Imagine being interrogated for hours (I think they said his "interview" was over 70 hours total) and asked repeatedly about dates/times on stuff that happened years ago while the person asking you has all the dates/times in front of them.

Depends.  My wife's coworker cut a deal with the DOJ and she got three.  She was the first to roll up a money laundering and bank fraud case.

The big wheel guy got 16 years but got out around 10.  So this woman who I know spent 1/3rd of the time in prison compared to the guy three levels above her.  Not sure what the sentencing guidelines dictated.

Bottom line, if they want you they got you.  Cohen loses three years and might have to testify to lefties in Congress and then he's free.

Trump is a real estate developer.  Trump considered building a Trump branded hotel/building in Moscow.  You have to get government approval to build anything so Trump's people talked to government representatives in Moscow about the project.  The project never took off but the anti-Trump people are using it to point out that the Trump organization was talking to government officials in Russia as late as summer 2016.

This seems to be getting out of hand, and Trump is at fault for allowing it to go on under HIS justice department. ....
