The folks that follow the “Palmetto State Armory has lost another customer” thread (maybe a few others), know I have a horrible tendency to bastardizing the AR-15 platform when creating “unique” builds.
I get that my designs are not for everyone. Some like em, some hate em, some probably don’t care either way.
But I enjoy building stuff, and I like to think outside the box.

I’ve done three builds from the PSA Space-Force meme line (samples below).
I have the remaining lowers to work with on this new build, SPACERIDER-15, SPACEWALKER-15, SPACEPIRATE-15.
I’ve been told there is an obscure reference to a "SPACEWALK" in the Fallout game, so I'm liking the WALKER lower for this build.

Attached File

I will definitely be basing the theme on the Fallout series of games (have my reasons), so please do not add info for other games, I can;t use that.
For those who say "just play the game", I haven’t played video games since most of them shifted to first person shooter style (they mess with my equilibrium somehow, make me dizzy).
So, I could really use some reference guidance.

Question 1: What are some of the more popular firearms in Fallout? Does not have to be related to the AR, or even a rifle, I can get creative. Doesn’t have to be for a specific release, any version of Fallout is GTG.

Question 2: What are some of the most popular symbols, logos, emblems, or things found on Fallout firearms, or even good reference material, color schemes, or good guy bad guy related stuff?

Pics or links are good, thanks in advance!

-UPDATE 1 [7-26-21]:
GOING WITH THE BRN-180 UPPER
Still looking for some input, but I have decided on the Fallout 3-4 basic Laser Rifle for this build.
It will likely include the Brotherhood of steel logo, along with a few other indirect references for the PSA lower (still not 100% sure on which of those to use yet).
The Laser Rifle does not have a buffer tube. I will use a 10" BRN-180 / 300BLK upper for this project.
Lots of milling, I ordered just under 20 pounds of different sized 6061 (likely about 2-3 pounds of finished materials and a crap ton of chips).

Might not be a popular opinion in the world of purists but those are fucking rad.

Everything in Fallout (at least F04) is kind of post apocalyptic with a touch of steampunk. Wood, bailing wire, non gun bits being used as parts.

Vault Boy is probably the most recognizable image and easy to outline on a lower.

The T-45 helmet is also iconic, but harder to do in a small size.

Best of all would be if you could do the VaultTec door where the serial number is the vault number.

You can look at the internet movie firearms database and scope out the guns of the Fallout franchise.  Take a look at New Vegas, in particular.  There's four or five AR platforms you could clone build.   Bonus points for a clone of Maria, Benny's BHP or A Light Shining In Darkness, Joshua Graham's Commander 1911.

ETA I know you don't play games, but you indicated that is due to 1st person perspective.  Most (maybe all) of the new Fallout games, since 3, should have an over the shoulder, or 3rd person perspective option.  And 1, 2 Tactics, and Tactics:BoS are an isometric perspective.  Maybe you wouldn't have the nausea?

The first one you suggested definitely looks like the Institute Laser Rifle from Fallout 4

Another one that MIGHT be doable is the Gauss Rifle from the same game.

Of course, you could cheat and build a Handmade Rifle from NukaWorld, which is pretty much an AK47

ETA: if you really want to tie in the spacewalk thing, you need a hot chick to play Nuka Girl, with the above mentioned Institute Rifle.

Fallout is an odd story as far as aesthetics. Super advanced technology that looks like something out a 50's era World's Fair.

Good news is there's a few AR style rifles in New Vegas.  The basic NCR service rifle was just an A2 with wood furniture.

As far as a space walk, I don't really remember anything other than commander Deguerre (sp?) from 76.

The single most iconic gun I can think of from Fallout is the 5.56 revolver - which would be somewhat technically challenging in real life.

OP, you could always do the "Handmade" fallout AK, in the game it's 5.56 but here's an easy way to make one

PSA G3 rifle

Muzzle nut

Have badelementco cut down a slabside to 20 rounds

Shovel stock

Left side charging handle modification

Pretty sure you can find an ambi safety for it, or make one

Steel wool and water makes it rusty

Idk what country of origin the grip is but I swear I've seen them before

Either a Chinese hooded front sight or make your own

The shoulder forces the cartridge back against the breach, causing the cylinder to freeze up.

to make one work you would need to have some weird mechanism to (maybe) move the breach back for each shot, or something. Bottlenecks are hard to do in revolvers.

What is the story behind the vault door and serial?
I've seen a few different numbers similar when researching (101 111 76)

Also, this will not be just a branding type build.
Aside from the barrel, BCG, internal guts, and the Lower, I will make everything else.
Even machine a new housing for an optic if necessary.

Wait, I was under the impression that you had at least played the early games. I may have read it wrong.

Vaults were underground Fallout shelters built by the Corporation Vault-Tec, built all around the country. The numbers denote specific Vault locations from various games. The player character (typically) was a resident of one of these vaults, and left for whatever story reason, to adventure in the post nuclear wasteland. Of course, many of the vaults were secretly conducting experiments on the residents, because reasons.

As an example 101 was in D.C, 111 in Boston, and 76 in West Virginia. Those were all Vaults player characters originated from in specific games, but there were others in each game that could be found and explored. They always have a story to them, usually pertaining to the experiments. A good one to read on is Vault 11

Maybe reading up on some of the lore, and major groups might help with some ideas. There's plenty of content on You Tube dealing with lore and the Fallout universe if you prefer that route, and could be helpful visually with some of the iconography.

I think Fallout Boy wouldn’t appeal to that many because it’s just a symbol of the game. It should be based on a faction or from a company within the game.

BoS, Gun Runners, Minutemen, Vault-Tec, Robco, one of the Casinos, the twins selling energy weapons outside Vegas, or maybe something security from Sierra Madre or the lab of Dr Mobius might carry?

Nuka Cola! Maybe as a prize to some lucky kid that gets the blue star cap.

Yeah, the most interesting parts of the vaults is the incredibly unethical experiments carried out within on unwitting test subjects.  It worth noting the US of 2077 (the year the bombs fell) was a place where ethics in business and science were basically non-existent.

There were a few control vaults (actually housed people to rebuild society after the end of the world) but most were for various testing.  76 (from Fallout 76) was one such vault.

Vault 22 (New Vegas) was interesting because of the GECK like plant growth, despite the absence of a Geck. Stumbling upon what looked like a rainforest in the middle of the Mojave was a wild sight.

Vault 81 was for testing the spread and effect of various lab grown pathogens in hopes of making a universal vaccine.

Vault 34 had a massive armory and its residents would form the heavily armed and reclusive tribe known as the Boomers when they took over the remnants of Nellis.

There's a lot of them though. Here's some reading if you don't mind spoiling a little story (that's directed at OP, I know you're familiar with all of these).

Lets talk about the green/ yellow colored Laser rifle used in Fallout. Someone mentioned it above.

Hey, I recognize that rifle!

Some clarification on this one - that rifle is a clone of an actual game weapon from Fallout New Vegas, the Service Rifle:

The in-game weapon is slightly different in that it's a side charger and has a funky top mounted ejection cover.

I've found a source for wood A2 style grips; just need to get around to ordering one.

The first two games are late 90's top-down, turn based games. Both are cheap and easy to run on non-gaming machines, and I imagine wouldn't cause issues with motion sickness due to the perspective.
