IRS execs: Our lives at risk in tea party case A judge has ruled that there was a 'strong showing' the IRS had a bias against Tea Party groups. USA TODAY Details about tea party bias claims against the IRS could remain secret because current and former agency officials say their lives are in danger if they publicly testify about the case. Lois Lerner and Holly Paz both have argued in recent court filings that the threat to their lives outweighs the public's right to hear their testimony about how IRS employees in Cincinnati and Washington D.C. handled applications for tax-exempt status from tea party groups. They recently filed evidence to support their claim under seal in U.S. District Court in Cincinnati. Though that evidence has not been made public, court records indicate it relates to death threats and other harassment the women say they endured after their names were connected to the bias claims against the IRS several years ago. |
| So, how does the Goverment deal with all the criminals out there when someone wants to kill them for what they have done? Surely the gov isn't bypassing prosecution because of some idle threats on all them? What about when the DA gets threatened in a criminal case? Do they refuse to prosecute those cases too? |

The people the IRS directly screwed in the targeting Scandal were organizers for the burgeoning (at that time) Tea Party movement. These people were business owners, local politicians, and regular "community" types who were looking to get involved in a larger national movement. Google "Liberty Township Tea Party" or "Richmond Tea Party" for the types of people the IRS screwed. These weren't "sovereigns"... those people couldn't organize a bake sale, and hate the government so much that their "person" would never create "joinder" by filing any sort of tax papers with the government. Sovereigns don't even believe in license plates, or the tax code itself, let alone 501(c) (3) organizing. |
