We lost my wife's father in 2011 to pancreatic cancer. He made it 2.5 yrs after his whipple procedure. Best advise I can give you is to document your thoughts. Like in a journal or the like. My wife who is now 32 goes to his book when she is down and it has been a rock for her to remember her dad. And his little notes within, she can still hear him.
He was a veteran of Vietnam, served in country. Never complained about pain ever in the time I knew him before he was diagnosed. He wanted to tuff it out towards the end. As that's how he was. My wife the RN finally talked him into some heavy meds. It might of been the best thing that could of been done. As he came around, after being out of it for a couple days as things were shutting down 2 days before the end. He told my wife that he was glad she had recently graduated from RN school and studied PC and recommended the pain management for him. Stay strong and fight. |
