Quick and easy?
BBQ up some spicy and mild Italian sausage. Dump a can of Prego into a pot. Fry up some thin cut onions and mushrooms into butter. When translucent, pour into Prego. Cut up the sausage and place into the pot with the Prego. Simmer at low heat for 45 minutes. Buy local french bread garlic bread, heat and serve. Boil up spaghetti, add to the pot of Prego or else place spaghetti on plate and pour Prego sauce ov it. Eat and enjoy. |

Because they add sweetness, and cut the acidity of the tomatoes. They're fished out when it's done. Quoted:

I pulse them three or four times real quick in a food processor. ~5-6 hours later: https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/51536/2016-04-17_08_20_26-301437.jpg Add noodles. I'm also guessing the majority of Prego responses I see in here are people actually being serious; like lipstick on a pig. |

Make your own. That crap from a jar is always too sweet tasting.
Buy canned WHOLE peeled tomatoes and blend them. If you can find San Marzano tomatoes those would be ideal but it's not a deal breaker by any means. For the meat make some meatballs and/or brown some Italian sausage then drop it in the sauce and let it simmer for an hour. Cook the sauce for a few hours prior to adding the meat. For the meatballs a 50/50 mix of beef and pork will do. The veal that many recipes use doesn't really add anything to the meatball besides price. |

I prefer macaroni over spaghetti.
However, for long pasta, I do like Buccatini, Angel Hair, and Fettucini. Here's a pot of gravy on the stove (with meatballs, sausage, and pork neck bones) and the finished product with Rigatoni and garlic bread. Attached File Attached File |

Who has the best spaghetti recipe? With meat... What about garlic bread? I need to impress the girlfriend tonight. Thanks GD. ![]() |

Da fuq is with the Prego and Ragu BS?
Barrilla, Classico, Newman's Own. Either of those are great sauces. Don't skimp on the sauce or the pasta, saving a whole dollar on a box of pasta and a jar of shitty ketchup ain't gonna win you any favors from your girlfriend. |

What's with all the tomato sauce recipes in this thread? The OP asked for spaghetti, which is a type of noodle. Open the package and boil according to package directions - unless you make your pasta fresh. |

Here's something that will blow everyone's mind. tl;dr version: Cook pasta with minimal water, it can even be barely boiling and it'll still come out good. Turns years and years of oft-repeated advice on its head.

There is a trick to that.. Snap the bunch in half or thirds before you boil it.. If it is still an issue, twirl your fork in a spoon to reel it up. Quoted:

I don’t. Long pastas annoy me because they’re a pain in the ass to eat. |

Make sure you use a quality brand of spaghetti, don't be cheap-skate, the different brands taste different because they use a different flour etc. I would try to make it a few times like 2-3 before trying to impress someone especially a girl. I make mine "al dente,' this Italian for barely cooked, kind of like medium rare. I would cook it like for 10 mins or so, take out a noodle and eat it, if it doesn't take cooked, try again in 1-2 minutes, you will know when it is cooked. Good luck! |

I've used a couple of different sorts of jarred sauce. When a lot younger I did the pasta, browned some italian sausage in a sauce pan, added the sauce, simmered for a while then put it in the big casserole dish and stirred it up. Amazing how many people were surprised a single guy could do that and asked for the recipe. Boiled water, cook pasta, drain. heated a sauce pan, don't burn the sausage, open a can, mix then put it together and mix.
It's almost harder to do the pasta. If you have time, brown the sausage - squeeze it out if the casings first. I used a little red wine to deglaze some, add the sauce, add stuff, diced tomatoes, maybe some onions, artichoke hearts, mushrooms, unsalted peanuts, diced pineapple, simmer for a while. OK, no peanuts or pineapple. |
| Cop onions and garlic. Saute till lighty browned. Add sausage (hot or sweet depending on what she likes) add store bought sauce. (I assume you're not making it from scratch.) Simmer sauce on low. Boil water. Add enough salt so it tastes like the sea. Boil pasta until al dente. Add cooked pasta back into the pot and add about a cup of sauce onto the pasta, cook another minute. Serve with a salad and garlic bread. |

What do you do to make the spaghetti not clump up when it cools? Mine is always good right off the stove, but turns into something similar to the shit you find on a Pizza Hut buffet after it cools, and even after it is reheated. |

Boil noodles until soft, drain. Open jar of Prego and heat with a can of mushrooms, drained. Put noodles in a bowl or on a plate, add sauce. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Eat. That's not so hard but maybe Alton will chime in and give you the whatsup. |

| That actually has a pretty interesting tangy flavor to it. We have it once in a great while for something a little different. |

Our quick, dirty, in a hurry spaghetti (Not making sauce)
1 bell pepper 1 onion 3 sticks celery Small can petit diced tomatoes Zap those in food processor and lightly sautee while throwing in a spoon of minced garlic. Large can of plain jane hunts tomato sauce (Not the pasta sauce one, just plain tomato sauce) Put that and the veggies in pot on simmer I put a dash of that Tony Whoever-the-fuck Creole seasoning in. Brown your pound of beef, add sausage if you like. Drain. Put it in the sauce. Boil water for noodles. Grab a Ron Jeremy worth. Snap them bitches in half while crying over your inadequate endowment. Blame the onion. Put noodles in water. Boil 11 fucking minutes. Not 12 fucking minutes. Not 11 minutes thirty seconds. Not 10 minutes unless proceeding directly to 11 minutes. 11 is the gawtdam number and the number is eleven. Drain. Serve. Tell anyone who doesn t like it that you heard cum damages tastebuds, then shrug your shoulders. |
