I really think the National Hurricane Center is going to have to revamp the way they categorize storms or introduce a size category in addition to the intensity category. This storm may have an area of Cat 4 winds, but the last advisory shows that hurricane winds only extend 35 miles from center. This storm is nowhere near the size of Ike that landed as a cat 2 but brought the storm surge of a cat 5.

The danger is that people will think they weathered this storm as a cat 4 when in reality only a very small portion of this small storm actually has real cat 4 winds so most people will only experience or witness cat 1 or 2 winds and the take away will be that cat 4's aren't all that.
