Well, we've been cooking the recipe since 13:30 and we've got all the windows open and it's not getting any better. The vinegar and cloves are really doing a number on the sinuses.

We didn't use the V-8 or apple cider but we did cut the salt just a tad because we couldn't find the unsalted tomato juice and we used the salted stuff.

Mama has decided not to cook tonight because the vinegar smell is so strong ... it looks like beef jerky and chips for me (and beer )

This better turn out!!

Two hour later on simmer and it's getting a little better... All of the windows are still open but the wife and the dog are really not happy with me just now.    One is at my throat and the other is nipping at my heels.  I may be sleeping on the deck tonight (not my choice).

An observation:
Without changing the setting on the stove, we started out the simmer @200 deg F and now we are showing ~ 220 deg.F  for the simmer.
I think we're going to cook for another hour or so before we stop and put it in to jars.

Got everything into jars... think those spageheti sauce jars... we got four 24 oz. jars to the top and two 16 oz. jars to the top and one 20 oz. jar.

The yield was about right... We'll see what it looks like tomorrow, the house still smells of clove (mostly) and vinegar.

I took a little taste and it wasn't bad, but we've been smelling the brew all day and a taste test right now isn't fair.

Thanks for the recipe

I don't have much left. I gave away a bunch of small bottles to friends that deer hunt and would use and really appreciate trying it on various dishes.

Venison works great with the sauce
Stuffed peppers usually sprinkled with soy sauce, now gets the sauce.
My one friend swears by putting it on pizza

I've made two venison, one chicken and two pork dishes so far. it has a wide application as a side sauce, a marinade and a brush on sauce. It tastes like a cross between a hot sauce and an A-1 type sauce.

Thanks again, camp ninja

I made this two weeks ago and parts of the house still smell.  PLEASE make this outside.  I am no longer allowed to make this inside EVER again.  I haven't used it yet.   Frankly, I am still getting over the smell.

After brewing in the house mama was really after my ass...

We did fahitas tonight for dinner and we drizzeled the Recipe on to the meat.

She's after my ass again tonight but in a GOOD way ( I my just get lucky tonight ), she thinks I'm the worlds best BBQ sauce cooker.  I think it's because I rubbed a bit behind my ears.

I wonder what would happen if I put a dab on my willie?

Guess that depends on how much hot sauce you put in it.

Made a batch last night, had a question... what is the weight of the small cans of tomato juice?  They didn't have any small cans really so I just guessed.  Seems like it turned out well though, I have some chicken marinating right now so we'll see how it is.
