[ARCHIVED THREAD] - F&D Defense Out of Business (Page 6 of 10)

FoldAR has sold over 1,000 since December 2018, and we cut back a lot during litigation once we discovered that F&D's interference was creating a marketability/confusion issue. F&D sold between 120-140 in 23 months (Aug2017-Jul2019). |

OP, where are the damn hot wife pics? There are fucking rules in this place and flaunting them is a bullshit douche canoe move. Having said that, can you fire your rifle while folded? Our Double FoldAR (with DeadFoot folding stock) will fire with the stock folded. You will need a hammer and nail (and full hand/body armor) to fire with the barrel folded. |

Aside from all the purse swinging.... Has anyone done a torture test on the folding AR design? It just looks to me that the mechanism that locks the barrel into place could end up wearing at contact points to the point where it could get sloppy. I really would be concerned about slop where a barrel and bolt lock up to make a controlled explosion. What's it look like at 5,000 rounds? 10,000? ETA: At let's face it.... the thing will be folded and unfolded 5 times for every round it fires as the owner plays with it. What does repeatedly locking it up do to the contact points? It's a well engineered, well designed product. That said...uff da.

| Damn. Someone should call larue and say something about this thread. If a newbie saw it, it may prevent them from buying from larue. Which would legally be hurting their business. Almost like some sort of legality. Wait... I already did hahaha the guy pulled up the thread and laughed and said thanks. Then I ordered an MBT two stage and next that SUURG. |

For hunters, personal defense, range-goers, over the course of 20,000 rounds it might be folded/unfolded/latched up to 1,000 times. I have at least a dozen test units that each have seen over 2,000 folding/latching cycles over the past couple of years with zero indication of any wear/slop whatsoever, or any degradation of accuracy/functionality. Each of these firearms have seen several thousand rounds of fire. Dead Foot's primary test unit probably has over 4,000 folding/latching cycles, as they are latching it all day-every day at each gunshow they go to, in addition to the actual field testing they have performed. |

Dead Foot Arms has tested with well over 10,000 rounds and several thousand latches on one unit and sees no wear at the hinge and latch components or degradation of accuracy. Actually we have calculated that over the course of 20,000 rounds fired, for the common LE and military application, the firearm might be folded/unfolded/latched up to 500 times. At the end of the day, I really don't give a damn if a manufacturer is a narcissist (not saying you are), or just a plain asshole (again, not saying you are.) I care if the product is good. I care if they are honorable in their dealings. I care if they take care of their customers before and after the sale. I care about if they support the 2A and the Constitution. |

I bought a 16" upper from Brownells because I wasn't crazy about the specific barrel/rail length combos offered. I shortened the barrel to 12" and built a pistol. I wanted one to roughly fold even with a Maxim brace. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/125898/20191007_200915_jpg-1116434.JPGhttps://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/125898/20191007_200923_jpg-1116436.JPGhttps://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/125898/20191007_201002_jpg-1116437.JPG
When slung, there will be constant tension pulling against the latching mechanism. It may never be an issue, but it's something that for me would create a nagging doubt that would constantly be in the back of my mind.

I think your numbers are backwards on folding and unfolding. ![]() A legitimate operator is typically going to fire more rounds than a hunter before packing up. A range-boi may be closer to an operator. 20,000 rounds @ 500 stowages equals 40 rounds per stowage. 20,000 rounds @ 1,000 stowages equals 20 rounds per stowage. I personally average between 60-100 rounds per stowage for my hog hunting machine gun SBR in 6.8SPC... which sadly averages only about 3 hogs per stowage. |

Colby, I like you for the same reason I like Mark LaRue... Always willing to tell it like it is regardless of how it will look for business. Especially in a world where everyone is so scared to be themselves.
Cool product. I doubt I can convince my second hottest wife on the forum the baby needs one, especially now that she knows she's not number one.

How does a “standard AR” weigh more than a FoldAR which has the exact same parts as the standard PLUS the folding mechanism?

Despite numerous offers, both on here and the hide the f@d bunch (op included) didn't want any part of that. Just ridiculous claims and shitposting. And no, I'm not a LaRue fan boy either. |
