ETA My questions fuckin moot anyway, I ordered two 5-packs.

Its kind of like a Mora, I have stainless but for everyday use I prefer the carbon. |

Well my first ever machete purchase is 10 machetes of unknown brand name.

At first it will need a lot of work so very course. You will be tempted to use a grinder, which you can, but be very very careful to not allow the steel to heat very nuch. A belt sander is actually much better for this. But again take your time so that it doesn't overheat. But once you have the edge profiled it will need a fine to light medium flat file or like I mentioned earlier a little triangular file. The trick to a good machete is for it to be sharp. Damn sharp. One step below shaving sharp. |

They look exactly like the ones I got from Sportsmans Guide a few years ago. The top one in the pic along with the very bottom one kicks ass. The black handled one is still new and not sharpened but feels like it would work great.The second to bottom one is also unused but feels flimsy. If there is a chance that you could get a sugar cane knife in the mix it's definitely worth it. |
