I've not seen a ghost. But as a kid we lived in an old house in Louisville ky. It had an upstairs room. No one in the house would sleep there. When you went up there you'd get a bad feeling like dread or whatever. It would be so overwhelming you just had to leave that room. Also been just 2 other places and experienced that feeling. It's like you knew something was there, you could feel it. The feeling would be so strong you had to leave because it was a very unpleasant feeling. So I say trust your gut instinct. My dog died a little over a year ago. Had her cremated and have her ashes in house. I swear sometimes I'll catch her relection standing in the kitchen on the siding glass doors. Had her for 17 years and think of her ever days

Then I built an HT setup capable of THX Reference to 9Hz and still reasonable SPLs to 7Hz (maybe some day, I’ll get serious and install a Thigpen Rotary), and can confirm that infrasonic vibrations at decent SPLs can induce feelings of anxiety/dread. What’s really interesting is the number of movies that use it for certain scenes, despite the fact that MOST commercial theaters can’t reproduce those frequencies. https://higgs.ph.ed.ac.uk/outreach/higgshalloween-2021/haunted-frequency Mythbusters tested it, but they kept the SPL below 95db, because the walls were shaking at higher db, and they didn’t want to allow any obvious cues like that to influence the test subjects. (THX Reference is 115db for LFE). *** other interesting things learned from other areas; as mentioned in the linked article, 19Hz is around the resonant frequency of a human eye. The resonant frequency of the human body is between 3Hz - 13Hz, depending on which part, with 6-7Hz hitting both the torso and thoracic cavity. One of the things that auto manufacturers test, is that the vehicle doesn’t vibrate at that frequency, because it feels exceptionally uncomfortable to the occupants. We inadvertently confirmed this while changing/messing with suspension setups for track cars  As mentioned, my HT setup can produce decent SPLs at 7Hz. It makes you feel funny inside. |
| My wife and I have both felt our cat jump on the bed that we put to sleep back in November on a few occasions. I miss her terribly and want to believe it's her (the cat), but I mostly chalk it up to us being used to jumping on the bed for the last 14 years and us being sleepy and dreaming the feeling. |

One night, my first night shift as Sergeant for Southern University at New Orleans, I walked through the Old Science building to make sure it was locked down. I walked through the 1st floor, and shut and locked the auditorium doors. Went to the 2nd, and did the same. Got to the 3rd floor to do it again, and looked down and saw that the doors on 2 and 1 were, instead of locked and shut, wide open. I shut and locked the 3rd floor doors, then made my way back downstairs, shutting and locking the 2nd floor doors (again) and got to the 1st floor, where I poked my head in and looked up and saw that the doors on 2 and 3 were open again. I was getting pretty weirded out at that point, and just decided to leave the building. As I headed down a hallway to the exit an elderly black woman walked out of a classroom, stood in the hallway for a couple seconds, then looked me dead in the eye and walked back into the classroom. I ran down the hallway to the classroom calling out for her to stop, then entered the classroom, which had only the one door and sealed windows. There was no one inside the classroom, and I searched it well. I left the building, and frankly neglected my patrol duties the rest of the night, being somewhat freaked out. At around 0700 the day shift, including the chief, showed up. The chief and her secretary looked at me and saw that I was pale, and the chief said something like "oh Lordy, he saw Mrs. [a name I can't rember,] and her secretary started laughing and agreeing. I immediately felt a weight lift off me as I was relieved to learn that I witnessed some known person who might have keys to the OS building, instead of somethig else, and said as much. Which was when I was told that Mrs. [a name I can't remember] had died a decade prior, had had her wake and repast held in the OS auditorium, and had been seen there several times since by night shift employees and insomniac students. So, yeah, I don't believe in ghosts or the supernatural. But I experienced what I described above, along with a couple other really weird and inexplicable things in my career, so.....I dunno. Jump cut to the 1990's. Mrs. [a name I can't rember] is confiding to a friend: It's the craziest thing. Every time I work late--you're gonna think I'm making this up--but something keeps closing and locking the doors, and when I walk out into the hallway to check, I see this white boy in a Po-leese uniform running down the hall yelling at me. Am I losing my mind? |

I said you don't think hearing body bags unzip in the human cooler isn't weird. She just struggled her shoulders. She said she's seen and heard some strange things. But she's got nerves of steal. We plan on doing a little ghost thing there one night. Using thermals, night vision and other stuff This is where she works. Having worked in that industry as well, I've always wondered why ghost stories pop up at funeral homes. Nobody dies there. I dont really believe in ghosts. But things would be more interesting if that sort of thing is real, so I don't like... vehemently deny their existence. I know very normal and otherwise rational people whose experiences, sometimes collective experiences, make them total believers. |

Had her for 17 years and think of her ever days Yeah, the closest I've ever come to a supernatural experience was at an old friend's house. Same deal, a room they never went in. Patrick tells me "you can go in, if you want...." in a very cryptic way. Normal room, nothing on the walls, just a bed, dresser, and a night stand with a lamp. But yeah, you just get very strong negative energy. Depression, dread, sluggish, the room feels "heavy", you just feel like "I should not be in here." Told him what I felt, he just said "yeah, that's why we never go in there." Some time later my Pastor asked us if we'd ever felt exactly what I just described. My eyes got real big, knowing I knew EXACTLY what she was talking about. I go "uuuh, YEAH!!!" She says "that's Evil. You were in the presence of evil." |

Had her for 17 years and think of her ever days The only other time I felt anything like that was walking on a small trail in Guam, but I think that was more because of the massive spider I saw a few minutes earlier. I was worried there would be more in there. |

I hope i'm not too late to this thread to have a meaningful discussion about this. I've wanted to do this thread for a while... Yes, i believe in "ghosts", but i don't believe they are the spirits of people who once walked this earth. I believe in God and the Lord Jesus Christ, God's son, who died for our sins. I need to start with that statement. When people die, there is judgement, and then there is heaven or hell. That's it. The spirit of those people, face God's judgement, and a decision is made. No one becomes a "ghost on earth" What DOES happen, is there are demons on this earth, who WILL trick you into THINKING you are seeing the spirit of something else. They will do anything, and everything, to trick you into activities/beliefs which are against the teaching of the Lord. "oh, that's just the ghost of my old so-and-so, i talk to him/her from time to time" NO, you don't "oh, i used a Ouija board to talk to the dead owner of this old farm house" NO, you didn't "oh, i've seen the ghosts of this old event, walking in this old house/field/battle ground" NO, you didn't. What you saw, was demonic creatures who are trying to lure you away from God. Demons don't need/want us to follow THEM or the devil, they only want us to NOT follow God. If you are absent from the Lord, you are present with the Devil. I don't care if the Ouija board knew things only your old so-and-so would know. It was NOT them. so, there are no ghosts, only demons. |

I used to not believe but im not sure anymore. Never stuff with, "humans" but have had a couple experiences with family dogs after they passed. Window blinds kept separating as I left the house for work in the morning a month after one died. Thought it was the sister in law as my brother was staying with me then, untill I realized that she left before me for a job interview and I still saw the blinds part with no one else in the house. The dog that passed did that all the time. It never happened again after that and I never told anyone in the family. 2nd time was a couple years ago, dog passes and a month or so later im laying on the couch watching TV. Normal lazy Sunday and I hear the dog walk past me clear as a bell, her nails tapping across the wood floor. She did that all the time looking for me when she woke up on the weekends. Wasn't scared either time but I had to really think and process what I just saw or heard. Ive heard the its demons tricking you belief, but if anything this pushes me closer to religion. |

The only time I guess I have had an experience was working as a night watchman just after graduating highschool while waiting for my enlistment date . I got a job as a night watchman in an old mill building in CT . Now most of these old buildings have been converted to condos . My job was to carry a clock with paper tape inside it and turn a key on every floor in the buildings . There was also a security at the gate but that was contracted out by the company . It was always kind of spooky I guess because there were 4 buildings and they had a bunch of old machinery and creaky oil stained floors. There were never any lights on except for some fire lights so I carried a flashlight . I was there about a week and I was in one of the buildings walking up a ramp to the 4th floor when I heard a bunch of people talking up on the floor . I figured the gate guard let in some maintenance guys to do some work there because one building still had some production going but it wasn't this building . I started walking up the ramp to and say hi to the guys but when I got to the top of the ramp the voices stopped and the whole floor was dark . I carried a radio and called the guard outfront if he had let anyone in but he said no . Well anyways when 8AM came around my boss who was the maintenance manager asked me how the night went . I told him about waht happened and he just smiled and said yeah you are not the first night watchman to tell me that I was like fuck are you saying that building is haunted . He laughed and said this place has been here for over 110 years . Plenty of accidental deaths with workers before safety standards were followed . That's my story of ghosts and I'm sticking to it

I believe there’s definitely some level of supernatural experiences that can happen, but don’t have a full on belief in ghosts. Mostly because of weird noises at my parents house. It is a farm house that was built in the 1920’s, and we know of one death that occurred while the old barn was being built. Several family members have heard the same inexplicable noises, plenty of times each, and none of us could ever figure out any rational explanation. One repeated noise was footsteps walking upstairs when you would be laying in bed at night. Unmistakable, sounded just like somebody actually walking up the stairs, same number of steps and all, but several of us had heard it when we were either staying there alone or know everybody was in bed for the night already. The other noise would occur when you were on the first floor or in the basement, and it was the sound of somebody either falling on the floor or dropping something heavy on the second floor. It was a loud thud, and nothing would be out of place upstairs when you check. It wasn’t a noise of the house settling either. Most commonly, it would happen while watching TV in the living room, with the thud happening in the room right above your head, and it happened several times with multiple of us sitting there and all hearing it, immediately looking at each other to acknowledge we all heard it. The thing that gives me the most belief in something supernatural about these noises, is that they stopped when we tore down the old barn. Coincided perfectly with the timing, haven’t heard either noise since, and they were regular occurrences until that point. I dunno. I think there’s too many stories throughout history for there not to be something going on, but being supernatural, I doubt there will ever be concrete evidence. |
