Not sure about "romantic" but Slow's Barbecue is well liked.

I'd pick Roma Cafe over The Whitney.
Fantastic atmosphere. Detroit's oldest restaurant. |

Ive been to Slows BBQ I know its all the rage up there but I like Rib City down here far better LOL! Its really not "romantic" anyways..
Here Tactical FWIW I haven't been to any of these..we 'd just go bar hopping or to the casual places when downtown..I do know they are all expensive LOL! 7 romantic restaurants in Detroit Portofinos to the South down in Wyandotte on the river is a nice little not terribly expensive italian restaurant.. Portofinos Theres' a few other nice restaurants and bars down that ways as well and a park by the river that If you want to walk around after dinner by the water or go to a nice bar nearby afterwords and not really worry about getting mugged so much after dark I'd recommend it LOL! |

The Whitney and Roma both come to mind.
I think the Whitney has an edge in terms of venue, great old building. Roma is pretty small, although the food is great. Two other nice things about the Whitney are the gardens if you go in the summer and the art museum is about a half mile away if you want to add something to the day. Roma is surrounded by warehouses. |

Well, you can try my family biz in Southfield - NIKOLA'S! We're a barbecue place - ribs, chicken, lots of seafood, live jazz on THURS nites and portions that NO ONE can touch. I don't wanna bad-mouth Slow's, he's not our competition, but my customers tell me at least once a month that they prefer us to Slow's. Traffic Jam is owned by a good bud of mine and they are great. NIKOLA'S The only thing at the website is the menu but we are on FB. |

That Roma cafe looks pretty good..we might have to give that place a try next time we head back uo there..

Why thank you I'M honored. but not worthy LOL! ..My Fiancee worked in one of the major hospitals down there graveyard shift's and all... think she's tougher then me LOL! Her favorite restaurant down there was the one that was there BEFORE they built the Greektown casino..said it was never the same after..we were actually down there at the casinos grand opening..actually saw people winning in there back then LOL!

The Greektown Casino offers free parking in its garage, so your car has a better chance of being there when you return. You should be safe there. Slow's BBQ was okay, and that area in the immediate vicinity was safe. There is a lot that provides security across Michigan Avenue. James |

ARF only shows the war zone pics of Detroit on here... never any of the new buildings or nicer areas..I equate it to watching the news on TV of a hurricane and they only show the trailer parks
devastation/destruction but not the new homes next door to the park but built to code that didint lose a shingle..
