[ARCHIVED THREAD] - BOLO Stolen Firearms Seattle (Page 2 of 2)

Quoted: Like hell it isn't random. Burglaries here in Houston average over 1800 home a month and most are random. |

Yeah I had some insurance through the NRA and used it to by a new safe. The policy paid the max benefit and paid promptly. Had I looked into it, it would have cost me $60 a year to insure all of them. Should have bought the extra insurance. Consider a dropcam; it'll upload all video straight to Google's cloud, so it wouldn't matter if they stole the camera. |

I have been a NRA member for years and have never even bothered to look into the insurance they offer. Obviously you had no hassles getting them to pay. |

But yeah, firearms insurance is cheap. At least, when you think about the cost to replace 20 years worth of a firearms collection, the insurance is cheap in comparison. I hope when people read these types of threads they look into getting insurance if they don't already have it. None of us ever thinks we're going to be the guy who gets robbed. But sh*t happens, and often when you least expect it to happen to you. |

I always just figured it was coverage that would never pay up. At least that worked out well for you. Hopefully you get your stuff back as well. I would add a sarcastic comment about I-594's Universal Registration helping you out, since thieves couldn't sell the guns without running them through the firearms registry, but we'll save that for another time. |

Honestly, 594 is slowing the recovery of my firearms. They could have been sold a couple times by now and ended up at a FFL which they are supposed to record the serial number into a database that would lead to a match of my serial number. That's what the detective told me was how they normally recovered firearms. Either a pawn shop or regular gun store. The gun might change hands a few times and people not know they have a hot gun, then they pawn or trade or sell to a FFL. and sometimes they recover firearms from crimes or raids. Yeah one less bottle of tequila or a couple range trips less would have paid for all my firearms being insured. If you're a lifetime NRA member, opt in for the insurance. I got the $300 lifetime member deal and on the paper work for insurance when the check came, the $300 was listed as the deductible. I sure hope everyone learns from my experience. They had "all night" I suppose. But if they really had taken their time, they would have taken all the power tools they were lined up and ready to go. |
