Yup.

I was a ocean park ranger 30+years ago. When I would close the gates at the beach pavilion at night, It felt like someone was right behind me and the hair would stand up on the back of my neck.  I would put the truck high beams on and turn on both alley lights on the light bar because there was thick brush on either side of the driveway.

The same beach pavilion building would have other weird shit happen at night too.

One night off-season, I was Bsing with the Bay Constables who sometimes closed the gates when we were busy. We're talking guys in their 50's, one of them a retired NYPD guy who definitely did not scare easy.  They both admitted they did the same thing when they were alone and even unsnapped their holsters.

I recently looked up where all the Gilgo Beach serial killer bodies were found. They didn't get specific until after the trial was over.  Sure enough, a couple of bodies were buried about 200 feet away.  Jane doe and the baby.

I've seen some weird shit out there at night. I would not be surprised if there were more bodies out there.

You just sent me down a rabbit hole reading about the murders.  What a fucked up story.

Right near the end of my grandfather's life, he was at home alone with the TV on, asleep.

I walked into the house, and went to the bathroom, and as you pass to the hallway to go to the bathroom, you can see directly into the kitchen.

I saw my grandmother, plain as day, standing at the stove looking out the back window as I glanced into the kitchen walking past; and then did a double take.

My grandmother had been dead for 10 years at that point.

Gone in a flash as soon as I looked again. It's as if; as soon as my brain got the message "wait that's not right."; instantly gone as I looked the second time.

I didn't believe in ghosts. Period. Thought it was a bunch of bullshit. People looking for attention or in and out of consciousness as they were falling asleep. It was always "at the foot of my bed" - etc.

I do now. This was broad daylight in a well lit kitchen. I didn't believe any of that mumbo jumbo - but I know sure as hell what I saw.

I wonder if she was waiting. The house they lived in was her childhood home.

Interesting how you described that.

When I was younger, my great grandpa had passed. He lived with my grandma, his daughter, in his final months.

One day I was over there, and there was a storm with hail and a tornado warning. We went downstairs. We heard a window break, and when we went upstairs we found a piece of hail had broken my grandma's bedroom windows.

She sent me to the hall closet to get a towel, and she began presumably cleaning up the water. When I came back in the room, I casually glanced past my grandmas room and out her living room window, admiring the green sky.

When I glanced past her room, I remember seeing a figure/ person/ whatever you want to call it in her room by the window, wearing maroon. I thought absolutely nothing of it, figuring it was just my grandma (it was simply a quick scan/ caught it in my peripheral vision).

I walked into her room, and she wasn't standing there anymore. I figured she was on the other side of her bed, cleaning up the water, but when I walked around nobody was there.

It was not alarming, scary, or anything else. It simply was unusual.  She claims that her dad had been buried in a maroon suit- the same color as the shadow/ person I thought I saw.

I never really thought anymore of it, but when you pointed out that what you saw only existed in your subconscious, and when your brain actually processed that someone was there, they disappeared it reminded me of my experience exactly.

Coors in Golden has haunted tunnels

Worked at Arrowhead facility near Indian burial ground - the labeler operators used to see a "guy" sitting up on top of the filler house sometimes. That one was interesting because different people on different shifts over 4 years all reacted different. Some FREAKED and management would transfer them somewhere else, they'd heard it all before.

My uncle was USAF security police and guarded missile silos. He said there were reports of ghosts of indians throwing tomahawks at them in the night.

Yes. Sorry for the long read,…….

Great grandma owned a very old house like almost 100 yrs old, remodeled multiple times. The road is where all the old Victorian style houses were in town, but before that it was sort of the “strip” or place to be, for nightlife etc, circa early 1900s.

During this time, there is an old story every family knew on that road, that was passed down, about a woman, maybe a prostitute, who wore a red dress, and was suspected of throwing her baby down this well before meeting her dismise and “disappeared.” Some said they heard she had an affair.

People living on the road, once all the houses were built decades later, would report seeing a woman in a red dress in the window of this house, all the way up til my grandmother passed in the 90s and the house was given up to the city for historical preservation. Local PD even told their guys the place was haunted, dating back 50+ years.

Family members all say since they were kids theyd wake up in the middle of the night and a woman in a red dress would be walking through the house, or standing at an upstairs window. Families that owned the house before reported the same. Grandmother would never talk about it. And my father would not let me enter the house without him. The house was truely horror movie creepy, and I remember it like it was yesterday, and that was 30 yrs ago.

Scary part……House was built over a sealed stone well. Confirmed by going under the crawl space. My father and his cousins found it when they were all kids, and no one ever wanted to talk about it.

That house has so many stories…..

Our squad was manning an ecp overnight outside Baghdad in 2003 and we all witnessed an Iraqi wearing a dirty, white man dress walking up the road 35 yards from us, ignored commands, goes right through the c wire cordon without missing a step and walked through what was left of the door frame of a small, blown out building about the size of a small garage.

Four of us rush over there and clear it, its was just filled with debris and rubble. We've looked through it multiple times before this happened and knew there was nothing in it. We couldn't find anyone in it or around it.

Same ecp a couple weeks later(also at night) we were standing around and one of the guys asked "what is that" as he was looking up and i glanced up just in time to see a dark shape glide over us and disappear without making a sound.  It was close, but we couldn't make out what it was, but I think it was around the size of a car but couldn't really make out a shape. No one else saw it.

Lots of good ghost stories in my family… they’re all made up, though…just like all the rest.

I got one. My Dad bought an old house out in the sticks of south west New Hampshire with the idea of fixing it up and moving into it when he retired. It had charm and the parlor room with the fireplace and old windows was beautiful, but you needed to tear all the walls down and redo to modern to make it livable. My Grandmother moved in with them and the retirement house never happened. When he went to sell it, the buyers had a request before they would even continue to proceed with the sale, and they wanted the house. They asked and paid for a legit ghost hunter to look for any poltergeist and declare the house free of all and any evil spirits. My father agreed and once the spirit hunter came in and declared the house free of spirits the new home owners happily completed the sale.

My daughters used to say an old woman would appear in their bedroom and talk to them. After they were grown, my mother-in-law moved in with us for a while (the most horrifying part of this story) and claimed an old woman came in and sat on her bed. I sleep in that room now, never seen any ghosts.

We bought my sister's house after her and her husband got divorced. His grandparents loved there before.
I have so many stories ill make these very short as I dont have time to detail them out.

Basement always had a weird feeling to it. Wife was coming up the stairs and heard a rush of heavy steps behind her like something was charging at her. She reflexively covered and braced for impact that never came.

The smell of perfume randomly at the back door every so often. Asked ex brother in law who told me his grandmother would sneak out back and smoke and use perfume to cover the smell.

One of the rooms on the hallway we used as an office. Around 3am all hell was breaking lose. Like someone opening desk drawers and just throwing papers out like they were just tearing the place apart. Wife and I ran in and nothing.

My friend was a pastor and came to visit. We were hanging out in the basement and he got a voicemail. He listened to it and it was the most inhuman despair ridden sounds I have ever heard. Like someone from hell called and left a message. I did tech support for att for years and had never heard anything even remotely like it.

My wife woke to a large black figure at the foot of our bed. Red eyes just staring. She said something like "in Jesus name leave!" It melted into the floor (basement).
She waited until our daughter who was very young was at school to tell me what she saw as not to scare her. A week later our daughter said there was a dog in her closet. It was all black but was licking its claws which appeared bloody. She described it as all black with glowing red eyes.

I was playing with my daughter in her room and could suddenly hear something scraping the wall downstairs. Like someone hung a chain on the wall and it was swinging left to right rubbing the wall. Put my ear to the floor and could easily hear it. I went downstairs and nothing. Back upstairs and the noise was now upstairs in the attic. Investigated and nothing.

Lots of other things at 3am. One night what sounded like a ball bearing shot and bounced off all the walls. Never found it.
Awoke to a toy keyboard turning on and playing. As soon as we turned the lights on it stopped, instantly. It was not "on".

My dad used to tell a story about a house he and my mom lived in when I was a baby, there was a door with a sign that said something like "Do not open-cemetery room".

Every night the door would be unlatched and he'd hear music coming from that room.

One night he looked out a window and saw people sitting in the yard around a fire. The next morning there was no sign anyone had been there.

Supposedly Cardinals come around after someone you know dies. My mother died in the winter and that spring and summer a cardinal pecked on my window until it was obscure from the beak marks. It went on for months and then she just disappeared

yes, not technically ghosts but definitely family stories and experiences with the spirit realm.
