We were on post guard, living in Campbell's (then) post guard house, when an armorer shot a 1911 through a wall pointed almost directly at me and my bunkmate. It was shift change, so the top bunk guys were down and standing and my shift had just gotten back and we were getting into the lower bunks. Armorers also changed each shift and the armorer coming on duty dropped the mag and pulled the trigger. Our bunk was pretty close to that wall and my bunkmate was standing there in shock, with his head spattered with plaster dust. The round basically went across the top bunks. Had it been a couple minutes earlier, many of those bunks would have been occupied. Winner winner, Article 15 dinner. |

It's not going to happen if thr trigger fails to reset because the reset point is farther forward. Every striker fired handgun that forces the sear down through trigger action will do the exact same thing if you pull the trigger to the wall, then a bit further. |

| One of my firearms instructors in the LE academy was shot in the chest by a fellow marine when he was in the USMC during guard (SP?) shift change at a post. Nothing other than the usual greetings between them and the other guy just drew and shot him in the chest with a 1911. Thankfully the ball round pushed enough tissue around that it didn't puncture his heart or surrounding plumbing but he grabbed the slide and held it fighting until he passed out, slipping around in his own blood. Said he saw his own blood on the wall behind as well since it was thru and thru. Help arrived as he was losing consciousness and arrested the shooter. I thought of this when this incident was reported followed by "nah, certainly this must be the nail in Sig's coffin." |
