Stocks are for old money and old people. Here's to the millionaire-to-be crypto gamble. I also wouldn't have had the experience of trading volatile assets which is an attribute definitely needed with cryptocurrencies. |

Well, I guess I am old then. If it hadn't been for my stocks, I wouldn't have had the money I used to buy bitcoins. I also wouldn't have had the experience of trading volatile assets which is an attribute definitely needed with cryptocurrencies.

Ok question for someone just getting into the game beyond owning a little ETH... If I want to buy other currencies, how do I do that? What wallet do I select? I'm looking at omniwallet and purchasing various digital currencies. Thanks for any help. Cryptopia has a shitload of listings, but volume is low. |

Poloniex is the easiest way. And you can speculate as you see fit. Not as secure as a wallet though. Cryptopia has a shitload of listings, but volume is low. Quoted:

Interesting new technology. I've been reading the papers over the last couple of days. This one has some investors that may turn it into something -- what ETH should have been. It's proof of stake, but it does look like they've already sold a bunch before they've opened it to the public. I have some concerns though, I'm going to be studying the code for a while. |

My god there has to be a lot of rich people somewhere who bought in at the beginning or even mined their way in with CPUs and GPUs. I wonder how much attrition there actually has been too, billions worth by now. |

+1 Well said. I just had a buddy cash out $3M+ in ETH over the past 24 hours. The money is real and crypto is here to stay. Either come to terms with it, or be left behind. It's the circle of life, as with anything. |

Did you read about accounts/tezzies that disappear if the account doesn't participate?? Did I read that right? Quoted:

Hope I didn't get screwed with Coinbase. . . I put in bank account info and made a buy on ETH at $117, ETH is supposed to be delivered to my account on Friday. Got an email from CB last night saying problem with my payment method. So I went back into CB and added another account, it seems to have worked.
Question is--will they use the account I just added to complete my purchase at the original $117 price? There is nothing to indicate that will happen. My order still lists the old account as my payment method.
And I can't add a credit card due to whatever large scale error they are current having with CC verification. ETA: The email they sent me said "The following information appears to be invalid:" Then there was a bullet point and a blank field. Really helpful. ETA 2: Weird. CB does not have my original account on file as a payment method and they sent me the error message email, yet they took the money out of the account today.

Here is the problem I see with Etherium.
There is no maximum. 60,102,216 ethers were created during the sale, plus 2x pools of 9.9% each. 26% of 60,102,216 will be created through mining every year. This means that 15,626,576 will be created every year on top of the 60m and the two pools.
After a while, 15,626,576 ether won't represent much of the total ether available, making the system dis-inflationary (i.e., inflation perpetually trending towards 0 but never reaching it). |

I'm hearing on Reddit and IRC that Coinbase is having issues with new account - specifically, CVV verification of when adding a new debit or credit card as a payment method.
If you're just getting into Bitcoin, I still recommend setting up a Coinbase account, but I also recommend setting up an account with Circle if you're having issues purchasing Bitcoin. |

Here is the problem I see with Etherium. Versus the max number of BTC is 21,000,000. We're 3 years into etherium, so their should be a supply of ~120,000,000 ether right now - and that supply will continue adding over 15 million per year forever. Quoted:

That might be a feature, depending on your perspective. Once adoption levels off, Etherium will be more stable in price than Bitcoin and other deflationary currencies. Quoted:

My advice: go slow. Transactions with Bitcoin and other cryptos are irreversible, so make damned sure you're doing what you want to do. Note that Bitcoin purchased from Coinbase with a bank account take 7 days to hit your account. They "lock in" at the current price when you buy, but you can't move them off Coinbase for a week. With higher levels of verification you can buy instantly, but the fee is around 4% I think. If you're wanting < $50 or so and are an established Arfcommer, PM me and I can probably hook you up. |

Anyone buying litecoins? Not really, it's the middle child - lacks the market position of Bitcoin but also lacks the later refinements of newer coins. It got new life a little while back by successfully making an update, something that Bitcoin has struggled to do. |

Just a total guess here, but does this sound about right for BTC purchases? 80% speculation 15% illegal commerce and currency transfers 5% legal commerce Also, there are a lot of people overseas using Bitcoin to evade capital controls. This is particular popular in China. |
