Quoted: Serious question: Y'all do pushups every day? I used to work out in high school, and I always varied the muscle group each day. Upper body Monday Wednesday Friday and lower on Tuesday and Thursday. I was under the impression you had to let those muscles recover before working them again. When I do my kettle bell work outs now, I'm usually a little sore the next day. Same thing for the body weight workout I do. Should I be working out more often? When I started this thing at the end of 2020, into the beginning of 2021, I was deliberately doing pushups every other day for about a month. Then It progressed to 4 days a week. Not long after that, 5 days a week, and ultimately 6. Within the first 90 days, I was up to about 300/day. I was at 20,000 pushups (in 2021) within about 150 days. By that time, I was doing 300/300/300/300/250/250. I was 41. I was making a concerted effort to reach 30,000 that year, and when it came, I wanted more. so I completed 60k in 2021, 70k in 2022, and 70k in 2023. By those years, it was normal to do 2500-3000 per week. In fact, my best single day performance was hitting 1000 in under an hour. At the beginning of 2023, I had a block of days where I went from 6,300 to 28,000 in unbroken daily workouts. 55 straight days. That was my mindset then. I'd get home from work, and I'd grab a set of 65-70 for the first 2 or 3 sets, then some 55s, and finish out with some 50s. If I took a week off for any reason, usually because I was under the weather, when I'd get back into the rhythm of things, I'd usually just do sets of 50 for the first couple weeks so I could establish that pattern again. Then try to knock out 60x5 for my first 300, then 50x4 for the finishing 200 that day. That's what worked for me. Now, at 45, I realize that it's paramount to stick to a pattern but also give myself some rest. Hence why I'm letting off the gas now just to maintain a pattern throughout the year. I'll be happy for a 50k year because I know it'll mean 300k will have been reached. |

Quoted: 25 degrees and flurries earlier...seemed like a great time to get out for a quick run Just a 1.5 mile loop...nothing crazy. Tomorrow will probably just be a stretching day. Going to snow on Monday...will probably try to get out for a run in that. We have a wintry mix coming tomorrow through Monday, and a low of 8° on Wednesday. I am NOT running in that.

Edit - Ran 2.5 miles with a 20lb vest and added some meters (3,299) on the rower. The best part was my 8 year old running the last 1.1 miles with me and she didn't stop. |

Then, I went skiing in 25deg weather and quickly realized that can be t-shirt weather if you'd like... |

Quoted: I'm at 1300 YTD as of about 3 minutes ago. Kinda want to do another 100 tonight just to stay ahead. That's the illness! I am ahead on my meters, but my day has been and continues to be jam packed. Instead of eating lunch, I did my daily needed goal of ~2,800m plus almost 500 more... ...just for good measure and to stay well ahead. You never know. Haha |

Quoted: Jumping rope is great! What kind of rope do you have? I've enjoyed using a Rogue speed rope...can't remember the model. It has metal handles... I'm running a Cyclone speed rope since it was the only one I could find that said "made in the USA". It has been a really good compromise for me, I get my cardio in and I don't have to run...I hate running been kicking around getting a rower but we will be moving this summer and I'm trying not to buy extra stuff to just move again. Just did 3,000 jump rope 150 pushups About to hit a chest workout to finish out the night. |

Quoted: 3 more sets of 15 this morning. I normally do them with my hands shoulder width apart but today I put them wider. Planning to vary that from day to day. Excellent! Another variation I recommend is elevating your feet on a chair. I've used various height platforms at the gym to hit different angles to keep things different. 10 at one height. 20 at another. Set them up next to each other and move up or down sideways. It's a little more challenging |
