Well damn, another one of those work days that wouldn't stop.  Got home late an only got in a 3.5 mile walk with 30 air squats every 1/2 mile for a total of 300 reps.  I also got in my 500 push ups by noon today.

Not enough, but better than sitting on the couch.

I tried donating blood platelets with my left arm after using my right for 2-3 years. I dunno if I didn't hydrate and rest enough, or if the phlebs didn't get the correct angle this time. It happens. I have a lightly bruised knot around the site, so it'll probably be Saturday before I do more pushups.

Its been a very busy week on my end...a LOT of work and some very long days. Had 200 total yesterday, and only 100 the day before that. Tried to make up for that tonight with 600.

A few weeks ago I got to 50 reps in one set for the first time this year. Since March I have been able to consistently do sets of 50. Since late in the day on 3/3, every set I've done (29) has ben 50 reps. Its been interesting.

YTD I am sitting at 23,635.

I am trying to get to 10k per month now, and will see how long i can do this.

Different day.  I have been having strange burning sensation when I stretch my right arm.  My right triceps will randomly burn/hurt.  Today's workout was intense, but it did not focus on push-ups.

Started the morning by putting on an SCBA (33lbs) and running 10.42 miles in 1:37.56.  I figured I was done, but I got motivated.

I did a 20 minute EMOM with a 50lb Bulgarian bag for squats and then push-ups.  I ended up alternating minutes with 20 squats and 40 push-ups.  I am cooked!

I'm a guitarist.  Back in the 80's and 90's I would go see Satriani, Lynch, Petrucci, and so many other ridiculously talented musicians...and I'd be watching them thinking....yeah...I'm just going to sell all my gear...I suck.  Then I'd go home and practice 12 hours a day for weeks.

Some mornings I wake up so sore and tired and dehydrated that the idea of doing pushups is just unpleasant. And then I do a set, get a pump, feel strong, and do another set, and another.

This thread is a perfect example of trying to be better today than I was yesterday, but not competing with others. There are some folks here who are clearly at the top of the fitness mountain....and I'm not going to pretend that I am Arnold in his prime.  I'm just going to try to do more today than I did yesterday.  I won't finish this year at the top of the pyramid,  but I will finish this year way stronger and in far better shape than I started it.

Growing in our abilities, our determination to push through physical and mental barriers, and willingness to lay claim to the process which refines how we operate is what this thread is all about.

Performers who say "I emptied the tank."
Goal setters who proceeded to find they need to set higher marks.

At BJJ yesterday, someone asked if I'd be interested in doing a Savage Race and said they have some that are half-marathon distances.  Since I'd done the 10.42 miles on Friday, it.planted a seed.

So...

I warmed up with my normal 10x30 push-ups,  did another run with the SCBA, and finished with another 10x30 push-ups.

My last two miles were my slowest ever; however, I never stopped.  My first few miles were averaging 8:21 per.  My last two miles were around 13:00 per. Hahaha.

Total distance -  13.21 miles (half-mara = 13.1) and.my time was 2:23:59. Yikes.  Hahaha.  My right foot is a giant blister.

Running the half in 2:24 is a very good day for most people. You did that having run it the day before, and on the heels of functional workouts and strength training.
When I was into distance, the whole 'not stopping' thing was always more important to me than my time...there is something be said for constant motion. Even on my ruck walks now...its all about sustained motion...no stopping for anything...ever. One foot in front of the other, for hours. Its a great feeling and a great accomplishment. Endurance is so overlooked by some many folks who work out. They can do impressive things in a snapshot, but many cant keep their heart rate elevated for hours. To me, the endurance aspect of training is what separates the men from the boys. Life is a long game...sprinting wont win it

If anyone else wants to be shown on the Leaderboard just chime in confirming that, and post your YTD total.
If anyone's numbers are off, just post in this thread with your most up to date YTD total and I will get it updated.
If anyone wants off, just say so, or PM me, and I'll make that happen.

I honestly love what this thread has become.

I've been involved with various athletic endeavors my entire life and have never been particularly gifted.  I used to do it for the physical advancements and I do enjoy those, but now at 40, I want my mind to be stronger than my body.  If I survived the previous steps, why won't I survive the next one?

It transcends working out and bleeds into other areas of life.  I am in a job to influence others and they notice.  It helps everyone.

Keep moving.  Like you said...constant motion. Over time, who knows where you can end up?

I initially started this thread with committing to 26,000 push-ups by the end of the year.  Thanks to the members of this thread, I realized so much more is possible.  It has motivated the hell out of me.  Thank y'all!
