I had a nice 6 mile trail run yesterday before work then I did chest after work. Meh, I was shooting for 295x4 but my form broke down and I had to settle for 2 sets of 2. I have longish arms and if I break form even a little bit I'll loose the groove. If I do a meet in the fall I'll need my bench over 3 plates for my own ego. |

Quoted: 4 plates is no joke. When I was at my strongest back about 10 years ago, I was about 40lbs heavier than I am now and could consistently do 275-285 for 5-6. I could never get over the 330 mark except on days where I felt really good. I admire your drive to get to 4 plates. Good luck man. My best bench ever was 182.5kg/402lbs in a meet, but I tore a bicep shortly after and lost a few months of hard upper body training. Pulled back from competing and lost some weight too. It’s a tall goal but I’m gonna give it hell. https://www.instagram.com/tv/CcoeoGMI6HP/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Pin presses for overload work and some sets of 4 paused at 275 from last night. Ok so fitness goals. I’m cutting weight. I’ve got a show late-Summer. I started early so I’m not in a huge hurry and can dial in instead of doing a mad dash crash diet @ the last minute. I hope to hit the stage @ 170. I know fats laugh @ 170 but it’s not the same 170 you’re thinking of in terms of body composition. If I’m lucky I’ll be in the 160’s but it’ll take some pretty rough dieting. In the low 180’s now but I haven’t played with water weight or glycogen loading either that’s just walking around weight not peak-week or anything. So if you’re just genetically dropping weight for the summer, or just dieting as an attempt to un-fat in general, I’m in the same boat. Let’s diet and exercise together and improve our situations. |

I’ve mostly trained for size so I’m stronger than most but half my game is losing fat not just gaining muscle let alone just gaining strength, so I’ll never be competitive in lift numbers. |

I can make the scale hit whatever number I want but if I don’t look how I want in the mirror, or what use is the number you know? Like if I look like shit on the beach do I get to say “yeah, but I weigh XXX”? If your physical composition is improving fuck the scale. Personally I go off the mirror and waist measurement (relaxed @ the belly button). |

I’m a little short fucker so that helps lol I’ve been mostly doing hypertrophy stuff for the last couple years because I was tired of being injured all the time. Lost about 20lbs since September and my pressing strength was horrible so I had to get back to work. 4 days of hypertrophy stuff a week plus that added bench day so I could bring it up. Working well so far. If I can get close to 181, I’m gonna do a meet for shits and giggles since everything will be a PR |

I'm almost 50, and since Jan I've worked out 5x per week. 3 days a week I do a workout that's about 30-35 minutes long and is 200 pushups, 200 sit ups and 5 miles on a stationary bike. It's broken into 10 sets of 20 each and .5 miles with no breaks in between. The two other days I do a P90X type workout video with both weight/strength and cardio elements. Now that the weather is nice, one bike workout per week will be replaced by running 2 miles and stopping at 10 different stops for a set of 20 push ups. I feel this is a good mix of strength/cardio and is intense while not being too impactful on my shitty joints. I have some pretty significant degeneration of the disks in my lower back, and since I have held fast to this regimen I have had MUCH less pain. Both less frequently and less severe. |

This is legit work. Very nicely done. |

Quoted: Who would have thought that a GD thread on fitness goals would only accumulate 4 pages in as many months. ![]() There are a lot of inspirational people on arfcom and I've certainly been blessed to be able to learn from them. Those that are chronicling their efforts are almost certainly helping others be inspired to get after it. We have a fitness and self defense section further down the General tab and there's good activity being recorded there too. |

Tomorrow starts 400 pushups daily Monday through Friday. 5 weeks of that to get to 30,000 for the year. After that it bumps to 500/day M-F. Every 10k will likely incur a week's hiatus. The change I made this week doing pullups and dips with my chain belt and 25-35lbs is noticed. I'm also in the process of building a 10x16 shed at home. As an old acquaintance told me years ago (and boy was he right), when you've bought a home, you'll never lack of anything to do for the rest of your life. |

Starting my run of 400 pushups at 0831. 2000 per week until getting to 30,000 for the year. I'm a little tired from taking my nephews to a climbing gym yesterday but I will push through it. 0831. 80 done in 1:15. 0835. 70 done in 0:57. 250 to go. 0840. 50 done in 0:36. Halfway through. 0844. 50 done in 0:34. 150 to go. 0848. 50 done in 0:36. 100 left. 0851 50 pushups in 0:35. One more set of 50. 0855. 50 pushups in 0:37. Time to run. |
|
Pushups begin at 0745. Let's see how fast I can knock out 400. 0745. 85 in 1:23. 0749. 65 in 0:51. 250 to go. 0753. 50 in 0:36. Halfway through. 0758. 50 in 0:34. 150 to go. 0802. 50 in 0:36. 100 left. 0806. 50 in 0:35. One more set of 50. 0809. Complete in 0:40. 30 pullups with 25lbs on my chain belt next. |
34 more days of training until the Murph. This will be my 3rd year in a row. I'm not sure I can top last year's time (39:15), but I'm going to push regardless. I've starting concentrating more on my pull ups since that is usually my killer, but I plan on adding a daily push up routine as well. Starting May 1st I will be doing half Murphs on Fridays and weighted runs 3-4x a week.

I've been trying. Moving to day shift after 11 years of night shift wasn't easy but eventually I adjusted. I knew I didn't feel like going to the gym after work so I started going before. The thought of getting up at 3:15 still makes me angry but it is what it is. If I'm not going after, it's gotta be before. I'm only actually working out for about 30 minutes but I can't get up any earlier than that, I just can't. Attached File I'm trying to bike more too. Only 500' elevation on last Sunday's ride but oh well. Attached File Now if I could stop eating like a campground raccoon I might actually get somewhere. |

Started diet in mid January. I was around 345. Today I hit 301. Carnivore and OMAD. Have a couple dumbbells, a forearm curler setup, a Resistance band and a jump rope in the side compartment of the ambulance. So if you see a guy working out near an ambulance, don’t call my fucking supervisor. He’s sick of hearing about it. |
| Glad to see this thread get some more life. I started my cut almost exactly a month ago. I’m down around 16 pounds. Usually the first 6-8 of that is water, so I’m down 10ish lb of fat. I’ve got maybe 15 more before I’m stage ready, and I’ve got almost 4 months to do it so I’m sitting pretty so far if I keep my nose to the grind stone. |

Quoted: Trying to cut down on caloric density where I can. Substituted cauliflower for pasta tonight. Didn't die. ![]() sounds torturous eating cauliflower ![]() Shooting to be at the gym by 0900. It is 0625 here. I need to run a mile today after hitting the 400 pushups and 30 weighted belt pullups. |

Since early Feb I am down 30 lbs and still working on endurance/ speed/reps/time 5 nights a week for 30-45 minutes. At a point where weight loss is going to stop and muscle will start to increase weight a bit so I am going by distance/speed/reps/time etc in my routine. |
