Got on a pretty good roll last year while trying to keep my shoulder strong enough to avoid surgery.  So keep working out 4/5 days a week, including walking several miles until I can get my knee back to where I can run, get from 210 to 200 and shoot more.

At the end of 2020 I was down to 166 which was the lightest I'd been in 25 years.

Training and diet got me back to the ~185 range (5'11") in about 4 months.

Its funny how when I met my wife I was 220 (2013), married her at 200 (2015), and kept getting scrawnier each year until last year.

You can get after it and make whatever gains you want.  Good luck.

My wife is no help. She wants me to look like I did when I was 18 forever (I was scrawny but athletic).

I did my first real bulk in my mid 20's and shot up 30 lbs.

I'm lean as hell right now, but weak as shit and down a pants size.

I am now closing in on two hundred pounds which at this time is a one hundred pounds weight loss in the last two years for me. Currently I have Covid, the ass kicking strain, which has caused me to lose about fifteen or twenty pounds in the last month. And the hell out it is, is that just prior to getting sick, I had loaded up on creatine and was doing moderate exercise and motivated the stay in it from good. But, I have some good days and bad days dealing with this illness and have never been this sick for so long in my whole life. But I have lost some weight though, which is good. No taste or smell has a way to decrease one's appetite for sure. I have always been a stout muscular type guy and hopefully can get back on the workout trail with some of you hogs very soon. Stay in it!

Edit: my weight loss goal is 180 and defined.

Godspeed your recovery Sir.

One of the 10 day breaks I took last year was due to c****d and it was early enough in the training that I wasn't really missing much in the way of milestones. The hardest part of it for me was not being able to smell the chili I'd be making and when I went to bed I'd usually cough a bit before falling asleep.

Hope you have a lot of success meeting your goals this year

Today's workout got me to 2000 pushups for the year.

I started with 15 pullups at 0747 this morning.

My first set of pushups occurred at 0755 and was 80 reps in 1:15.

My 2nd set of pullups was also 15 reps at 0800.

The 2nd set of pushups occurred at 0805 and was 70 reps in 0:53.

The 3rd and 4th sets of pullups were 10 reps each for a total of 50 today.

I completed 50 pushups for sets 3 and 4 for a total of 250 today.  Set 3 was at 0814 and took 0:35.

Set 4 was done at 0820 and took 0:38.

63,000 to go.

Small update this morning.

Yesterday I inadvertently did 255 pushups in the morning and that messed with me so I did 145 when I got home from work. My minimum set is 50 on normal days so in order to keep a nice round number, I need to get to 400.

After doing so, I found myself listening to Jocko Willink and EchoCharles and figured doing 2 more sets of 50 would be a good thing.

I'm now one day ahead of schedule. This frees up a day this week for other strength training opportunities.

Planning on doing 250 this morning and 250 tomorrow to get to 3000.

Once I am at 4000, I might decide to have a single day of 1000 again and move to 300 daily 5x per week for phase 2.

This week gets me to 4000 pushups for the year.

I began at 0755 with 15 pullups and my first set of pushups was done at 0758.  80 reps in 1:26.

My 2nd set of pullups was 15 reps at 0803.

Set 2 of pushups was done at 0807.  70 reps in 1:07. 2 more sets of 50 to get to 250 for Monday.

Set 3 of pullups was done at 0811. 10 reps.

3rd set of pushups was at 0816. 50 reps in 0:35.

4th set of pullups was done at 0823. 10 reps, totaling 50 for the day.

Set 4 for pushups was 50 reps in 0:35. Done at 0826.

Tuesday will be similar.

Watch out OP.

About five years ago I worked my way up to 50 sets of twenty pushups 3x a week.

I did them fast and bouncy.

Ended up with nasty tendonitis in one elbow.

Especially as you get older you should slow down and be sure the muscle does all the work.

10 4-6 count pushups will do you more good than 40 1 count.

You can be fast. Just don't lock out. When you lock out joints you transfer the load from the muscle to the joint.

If exercise hurts your joints you're doing it wrong.

Impressive.

Deadlift is not something I'm anywhere near trying

On my way home from work I decided I was going to do 100 more pushups tonight and repeat the same tomorrow to get me to 700 in 2 days.  I'll do 300 on Wednesday and strength train the rest of the week.

The reason behind this is I can get a "productive" evening with some quick sets, and it mentally prepares me for a couple days next week doing 500 back to back.  That'll be 5000 for the year then.

After reaching 5000, I am going to start doing 300 per day 5x per week for 1500 weekly until getting to 14000 for the year and then do a couple more 500/500 back to back days the following week.  Every 10k from there forward will set a new daily level.

This.  If I hadn't done 60k in 2021, there is no way I would've considered 65,000 for this year.  I really wanted to only get to 50k in 2021, but reaching that milestone in September seemed to leave too much time at the end of the year, so I kept at it.

Ironically, prior to getting to 50k in 2021, I always had a hard time waking up early in the a.m. but it was like a light switch got flipped and I started needing to wake up at 0500 or 0530.  I'm glad that happened because it makes the day so much more productive.

So I hit 4000 pushups for the year yesterday.

I will be taking a few days off before doing 500/500 back to back days next week.

Today's workout is 50 pullups and 5 sets of kettle bell swings where I release it mid-air with one hand and catch it with the other.

Pullups begin at 0755. 15 reps for the first 2 sets and 10 each for the other 2.

At 37 I can't say where I'll be in 13 years. I can say I've had enough small injuries sustained in the infantry and the 10 years working at sea as a commercial fisherman that my body only starts with the aches and pains in the joints is if I'm not lifting.

The 30 day 5-minute plank is really good.

Starts out short then works up to a 5-minute plank.

I failed to reach a 5 minute plank but can do 3 minutes like it is nothing now.   I think I made 4 minutes and change by the end. I have moved on to other core exercises to work specific things, but without the 5-minute 30 day wouldn't have been able to get to where I am at now.

I started working out at 0738 and my sets have all been 50 so far.  I'm at 4900 for the year and will do 100 more this evening after work.

Next week begins my daily count to 300 per day M-F for 6 weeks and then 500 back to back again for a total of 15,000.  That should happen sometime around 22MAR2022.

Yesterday was a pretty simple workout.

3x15 sets of pullups to start
6x10 sets and 1x5 to finish.

Started around 1145 and finished at 1240.

Tomorrow begins 300 pushups per day, 5 days per week for 1500/wk.

I'll be doing that through 18MAR2022 and the week of 20MAR2022, have back to back days of 500 pushups again.  That'll get me to 15000 for the year.

Only missed one day so far this year.  Had a colonoscopy, so that day doesn't count.

Got a new spin bike a week ago.  It's good for zone 2 fat burning cardio as well as intervals.

Yesterday was "fun". I love having cadence, HR, etc now while working out.  My old son bike was basic, no electronics.

Keep up the good work everyone.

I haven't exercised in about 20 years. I'm over 50.
I picked up cycling again in May/June last year and put in 3000 miles.
My goal for this year is 5000 miles.
I don't really work out because of a torn up shoulder and back issues but I do push ups, sit ups routinely(when pain subsides) and run when I can't ride.
