It'll pass. I'm not even American and I was fucking livid after Trump won the nomination and all of the little TrumpBots were cheering. It was over at that point. This election has been over for awhile. Both sides are just going through the motions. I wasn't so much angry that Trump won the nomination, I was angry that Americans who are supposed to be the 'gold standard' of individual liberty had been so easily duped into believing Trumps bullshit. I could understand if he was the ONLY guy that decided to run, but that wasn't the case. The fucking Trumpsters shot every other viable candidate in the face and climbed over their bodies so that they could get their 'big city thinking' progressive to the finish line. These people thought it was best to go to war against an 'enlightened' progressive from NYS with an 'enlightened' progressive from NYC. History will not be kind to either side. I can't believe the evangelicals fell for Trump's bullshit. I've never been religious at all, but I've always respected those that are and just assumed that they held themselves to a higher standard than the average person. I've honestly lost a lot of respect for Christians lately. This election cycle has been soul-crushing on many levels. To realize that so many people could be so easily duped by a big-talking conman is just demoralizing. It's not my place to comment, but I will say that I think the Christian church is broken. They have to figure it out because if they keep going like this, it ain't gonna end well. On the flip side, I've gained a better respect for both Mormons and Jews, not that I disliked either before this election. |
