Traded for this at a local gun show last weekend. Didn't know all the history of it at the time but was pleasantly surprised when a buddy came by and told me all about it. He was involved in the build back in the day. This one does not appear to have ever been sharpened or used. Still has the factory grease on the blade. Does have minor rub marks from in and out of the sheath and a few marks on the handle plastic near the tang (close up pictures included). Has Beretta mag pouch and is the correct sheath for this particular knife. Quite the collectors item as only about 300 were delivered with General blades and the fuller groove. The later issue and production models did not have the groove. Not sure how many of the 300 produced are out there, especially in this condition. I have a lot more pictures I can send. M9 Bayonet By LANCAY first contract
Lan-Cay received it's first contract for 30,500 M9 bayonets on 3/31/1992 from the U.S. Army with an additional 21,500 bayonets added during the contract.
In an effort to quickly supply the Army with new M9 bayonets after Desert Storm, Lan-Cay turned to General Cutlery as a sub-contractor to provide near completed blades for assembly at the Lan-Cay facility. This sub-contract proved to be totally unworkable, and only about 300 General Cutlery made blades were ever passed by the Army inspectors and put into U.S. military service.
The remainder of the General Cutlery blades were then demiled and destroyed as required by the Army.
