This is a very early HK Operational Briefcase made with a Hofbauer attaché.  This is a shooter, and the barrel hole has a split it in from the heat.  It has scratches inside from brass.  It has the brass deflector, the Stanag mount, a clip for an extra mag, and a clip for what I believe would be a parts kit.

From the pictures you can see the carry handle is compact, with flat head screws, thus original HK.  The early ones were painted aluminum, then they switched to plastic.  Inside, you'll notice it has only one hinge on the case and the straight trigger bar (later ones had two hinges and the "dog leg" bar.)  Includes one key and plug, and has the clip for the extra magazine and cleaning kit.

FYI regarding operational briefcases:  About 20 years ago there were a bunch of stripped cases found in the Middle East missing various parts.  It's unclear if they were ever completed.  Perhaps Saddam had contracted someone to copy them, or they were original and someone stole the Stanag mounts out of them, thus the handles were lost when diassembled.  Either way, a FFL07 imported them, machined new handles, sourced various mounts, and sold them all over the US as "HK operational briefcases."  These are easily identifiable as they will have a larger, more squared-off, aluminum carry handle that flutes out where it meets the case and Phillips screwheads.  Inside some will have Stanag mounts, but most will have an ARMS #1 mount.  This is NOT one of those cases; however, most I have seen on GB are.  This is an original HK case with all the original parts.

NFA: Do your own research, but to get you started, if you're looking to put a SP89 inside, the firearm needs to be registered as an AOW.  The case itself is NOT an NFA item, the non-NFA firearm becomes an AOW if you attach it to the case.)  Lot of different opinions on putting a SBR or a registered receiver or sear in it, but some say either of those stamps trump the AOW since you cannot register a NFA item twice.
