Im wondering what would be a better more efficient/ stable grip with an AFG?  Ive seen variations of the two and both are comfortable and I could train either of them till they are a habit so comfort isnt an issue.  All Im worried about is training the best grip.

Heres what I'm gripping

Grip #1

Grip #2

I prefer the thumbs forward grip because it feels like I have a more natural point when working up close, plus it carries over to my shotgun grip also but I don't know how the AFG would change things so someone with experienc eon the grip may have more thoughts on the matter.

Personally I like to make sure I can point my index finger at the target I am indexed on.  I guess the thumb follows.  I tried an AFG but it just seemed to add extra stuff to hold onto.

I’ve been considering switching out the AFG for either a V2 or just a hand stop but I don’t have any experience with either of those two.  The AFG on this rifle does make it seem a bit thick compared to my AR but it still feels natural to hold.  Just the hand guard alone feels a bit better but my grip is inconsistent with it for some reason and I don’t seem to have as tight/strong of a grip on it.  If I could keep the AFG shape but lower profile I think it would be perfect for me.

What’s the reasoning for having your index finger and thumb forward from your perspective?  I can’t seem to actually get my index finger forward without going over the hand guard.
Should the support hand be pulling the rifle into your shoulder or just kind of lightly guiding the rifle around?  From the picture it looks like your grip is almost pushing it out away from you.  Is that the case or am I just reading it wrong?

Pointing at the target is something I learned from shooting clays.  You tend to look and shoot where you point.

I trying to disconnect from the rifle as much as possible.  I don't pull it in or squeeze it hard at all.   Or at least I don't try to.  The only gun I intentionally squeeze hard is the weakhand of my pistol.
