Sup folks? I’ve been shooting IDPA quite a long time now and I stink HaHa. That’s neither here nor there I’m afraid. I’ve mostly used a M&P full size, G34 and a 92fs Inox but my best scores were always with a .45 REM R1 Enhanced with a 10 round magazine. All things considered I’ve never been much good. I’ve always shot iron sights but then I thru a Holosun EPS on a Shield and one on a P365 XL and my paper targets at the range got substantially better. Well I just picked up a M&P 2.0 Competitor and I’m definitely throwing a dot on it and I’m probably going to go with another Holosun because I like the ones I have and the price is ok and I don’t know any better. I was thinking the direct fit SCS MP2, 507k or an EPS full size. I’m used to the enclosed MRS set-up that has a 6 MOA. I guess my question is what do most people who run the Competition put on for a red dot and what MOA they/you prefer? 2 or 6? Do you run with it as a single dot and a 62 MOA circle to get on target more quickly and is anyone using the chevron reticle. What other considerations should I take into account? I’m sorry that this is only my second post and could be a book but this seemed like the place to find out some opinions and experience in my quandary. THANKS! |

| Been running the 407 Comp for both IDPA and USPSA for about 16 months now, can't complain. I would also look at the Vortex Defender XL, it's another solid optic and I like the serrations on the front which aid with racking. |

507 Comp or Vortex Defender XL. I have used both on my M&P with good success. I do prefer the slightly larger dot of the Vortex, so you could also look at the 407 Comp if you don't mind the absence of the Circle option in the reticle. |

I have a 507 Comp on an M&P and tried a new green one on my 2011. Did not like the green so I put my SRO on the 2011 and have not looked back. I like the 507COMP in red fine. I think the Vortex Defender would be a good choice as well. I prefer a 3 MOA dot and nothing else. I loose accuracy when I shoot 6 MOA and the big Holosun circle really distracts me. Find someone at a match with the dot you think you want and convince them to let you play with it in the safety area (or actually shoot it). |

I’m pretty certain you can turn the circle off on the models with that feature, so you just have a dot. I don’t like the circle either, but I do find it useful for steel challenge. |

Didn't even realize it had other reticles besides a basic dot until I switched it on accident. I don't think you can go wrong with that or Vortex Defender XL. I've been running both. |

I have used and like both pretty equally but I like Vortex as a company a lot better, and their warranty and service are the best out there. Plus they do a lot locally by sponsoring major marches with giveaways and they also hold winter matches at their indoor range facility which is about 45 minutes from me. I have also used and like the SRO. Mine went over 50,000 rounds without failure, and then I sold it to a a guy and it’s still going. |

I use it exclusively on the 3 moa dot. I agree and prefer not to buy chinese so if the Vortex works for you, more power to you. I have the smaller Vortex on a 44 mag Ruger and it has held up fine. |
