It would suck, any long range birdshot shot would be tough. Reloading won't be fun.

Shockwave/Witness Protection shotgun DA/SA pistol or service size revolver Iron sight only rifle Sockless boating shoes, t-shirt, and rolled up Armani suit coat with raybands required. |

I thought it would be fun to shoot a match with an 18" 500 that I had cut down myself. with a stock mind you. but the open choke and distance meant I couldn't knock down any of the steal. I thought I was so cool showing up with this little gun but damn did I look like a dick when all I could do was dance steel around and not knock it over.
didn't do that again

I shot a practical shotgun match at this place last year with a 20" cylinder choked 590a1 without any problems hitting the farthest steel so that shouldn't be a problem.

Obviously not ideal with it's limited capacity. But yeah sure go for it man, have fun!! Might want to use it in the Heavy match where a pump shotgun is used and you're not competing with semi-auto's with extended magazines where you'd get spanked for sure.

I only do local small matches with 20-60 shooters and still wind up in the top 25% shooting my 590a1. I load off side saddles (or my SOE micro rig tomorrow) too. |

Fun is what it's all about.
I've always wanted to enter with my Garand or AK-74 ( 5.45mm) it's been years since I shot a 3-gun match, but here's my setup....

It was fun. Of course with 5 rounds I had to reload and on some stages most of the guys didn't.
