I was ROing an experienced shooter and he dropped the hammer pointing up in the air. Seems rather foolish to me. |

| To me down range means down further on the range so an elevated muzzle would not fit. Sending a round over the berm or next to your feet is a DQ in itself and covered in the safety briefing. |

Normally I’m holding it a bit below where it would sit when I was shooting the stage as I pull the trigger. I guess a range could be sloped down enough to make the difference, I just haven’t been on one. Even then I don’t think it would be an issue as I’d instinctively point it “down” enough. I don’t believe I’ve ever shot anywhere that didn’t have a berm. |

I guess technically the berm(s) are out there but the stages were set up this side of that whatchmacallit you see in the foreground. Shooter in question went hammer down with the muzzle +/- 30*. There are houses less than a mile past that last berm. |
