I know concealment is OK, but everyone I see doing it carries appendix. Are there any issues with carrying IWB behind the hip? I know I'll be slower. I'm not worried about being competitive. I just want to test myself. |

| I carried at 8 o'clock (lefty) for decades then recently switched to appendix. Too much printing with a t-shirt at 8 plus AIWB is much easier to get to if you are sitting down. For competition you may find the extra reach around time is significant. You can draw from appendix much quicker, at least I can. |

Is it for the BELT deal? None of my local clubs shoot IDPA. Also, one of the local USPSA clubs talked about a possible concealment match. Well that makes sense. cool thing about USPSA is start position most commonly being wrists below belt, means that you can shift your right hand to three or 4 o'clock, with your left hand, ready to defeat your cover and you may not be that much slower than anyone else shooting from appendix concealed |

Here is a quote right from the USPSA rule book 5.2.6 & 5.2.11: 5.2.6 -- "USPSA Competition matches will not require the use of a particular type or brand of holster. However, the Range Master may deem that a competitor’s holster is unsafe and order that it be improved to his satisfaction, failing which it must be withdrawn from the match. Divisions may restrict a specific type of holster. Providing the Division does not restrict the type or physical location of the holster, IWB or concealment holsters are legal, as long as the firearms can safely be drawn and replaced, and so doing does not break any safety rules." 5.2.11 -- "All handgun Divisions require that when the handgun is holstered, the heel of the butt of the handgun must not be below the top of the belt, except as indicated in Rule 5.2.8 for Law Enforcement/Military duty holsters, and approved by the RM." There are a couple other rules that may apply but these 2 cover most issues I would think of from the 4 o'clock position. I wouldn't question it if I was your RO. |
