I use Claybusters wads in 12 gauge. They're low cost and they work.
I tried Windjammers but they are a little longer and didn't work in my press without fiddling with the petals as they moved into position under the seater. |

When I loaded 12 ga I used Claybuster wads too, the pink or white AA replica. The price was much less than the Winchester wads and Claybuster was headquartered here in the county I live in.
I still load 28 and 410, but with the price of shot I've found it more economical to buy 12 ga shells. |

First I would decide what hulls I was going to use. A good choice would be ones you get free or already have a lot of. There's just too many combinations to venture very far off the path.

I also use Clay Buster wads. CB11100 and CB410012 for one ounce loads in Remington hulls. Check the Hodgdon website for load data using 700x with the Winchester primers and hulls. This will list the various wads they used for their testing data for your choice of shot weight.
A quick look at the data does not show the cb410012 as an option in one ounce loads for the Winchester hulls with 700x powder. |
