Go to a gun show? There’s usually someone there selling the personalized inserts. Never got a set myself though. |

Yeah, custom-molded silicone is really the best way to go. I usually get a new set every year at NRAAM. Muffs interfere with a good cheekweld for me. The expanding foam plugs can be had in high (30+) NRR, as a secondary option. |

| I had a set of custom silicon plugs made at a local clays range and I love them. My daughter has some issues where loud noise causes some issues, so I bought her some Radians from Amazon. They were around $15, and you make them at home from a two part silicon kit. They worked wonders for her. I bought a second kit and made some for myself and they are every bit as good as the ones I had made that cost $50. Very comfortable and you can wear them all day. |

I bought the Axil hype. They SUCKED. The amount of wind noise was so high it was maddening to wear them. They would enhance certain frequencies you didn't care about (leaves crunching underfoot) while you could barely hear stuff you need to hear (people talking). I returned them. Replaced with 3M Peltor EEP-100. Expensive and acceptable sound quality. If you want good in ear active it's going to be Expensive(!). The 3M pair are at the bottom of what I'd call acceptable for outdoor use. I will say they are tough. I ran mine through the wash machine by accident and they still work. |

The Axils at first were great but after time they started to hurt my ear canals as well. Unfortunately I have to use them doubled up indoors(I had barotrauma once, never again). Several guys use and like them though. Maybe I just need new tips. I'm going to look into custom molded rechargeable ones over the summer. |
